How To Guide

Creating a Copy of a Folder

This document shows how to create a copy of a v5 folder using the Sage X3 Management Console.
These steps can be followed to create a new production folder from an existing pilot or test folder.
NOTE: In the screenshots below, a new folder named COPYV5 will be created from an existing folder
named TRAINV5.

Source Folder Data Extract

IMPORTANT: Be sure that everyone is off the system and that all batch jobs and tasks are terminated. If
users are connected to the system while data is being extracted, the data may not be in a stable condition
when its used to create the new folder.
Log into the source folder as the ADMIN user. Under Development \ Utilities \ Extraction/Integration,
run the Data Extract function.

Set the Reference folder to X3 and set the Copy folder to the source folder (TRAINV5).

New Folder Completion

Log into the X3 folder and go into the Folders (GESADS) function.
Pull up the newly created folders record and modify the Name (description) to something more fitting.
Save the folder. Do NOT validate the folder. This refreshes the folder dictionary so that the newly
created folder will be available in the Sage X3 Management Console to publish to the web.

If applicable, launch the Sage X3 Management Console and publish the new folder to the web service.
This will need to be done if the folder is going to run ADC or be available over the web client.

** IMPORTANT **

If this folder is going to be used as a production folder, it is important to make sure that the folder is not
set as TEST and SPECIFIC. Log into the new folder, go into the Table Maintenance function and pull
up the ADOVAL table. Enter TEST into the PARAM field portion of the key and hit tab. Make sure that
VALEUR is NOT set to 2 (yes). If needed, change to a 1 and save the record. Do the same where
PARAM = SPECIF.

If F9, FRx, Shipping Systems or any other modification/customization that uses SQL views or SQL stored
procedures will be active on the new folder you will need to re-run the associated SQL script(s) on the
new folder to recreate these views and/or procedures.
If this folder will be used as a production, the transactional data should be cleared. To do this, log into
the new folder as the ADMIN user and run the Reset Folder to Zero (RAZDOS) function.
