Precautions for Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) AIR BAG and SEAT
BELT PRE-TENSIONER EBS009TB

The Supplemental Restraint System such as AIR BAG and SEAT BELT PRE-TENSIONER, used along
with a front seat belt, helps to reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and front passenger for certain
types of collision. Information necessary to service the system safely is included in the SRS and SB section of
this Service Manual.
WARNING:
To avoid rendering the SRS inoperative, which could increase the risk of personal injury or death
in the event of a collision which would result in air bag inflation, all maintenance must be per-
formed by an authorized NISSAN/INFINITI dealer.
Improper maintenance, including incorrect removal and installation of the SRS, can lead to per-
sonal injury caused by unintentional activation of the system. For removal of Spiral Cable and Air
Bag Module, see the SRS section.
Do not use electrical test equipment on any circuit related to the SRS unless instructed to in this
Service Manual. SRS wiring harnesses can be identified by yellow harness connectors.

REMOVAL
CAUTION: L
When removing accelerator wire, make a mark to indicate lock nut's initial position.
1. Remove RH front seat. Refer to SE-4, "FRONT SEAT" .
2. Remove engine room RH cover. Refer to EM-12, "ENGINE ROOM COVER" . M
3. Loosen accelerator cable lock nut at throttle body , and disconnect accelerator cable at throttle drum.
4. Disconnect accelerator cable at accelerator pedal and bracket.
5. Remove accelerator cable.
6. Remove accelerator pedal and bracket assembly.
7. Remove accelerator pedal from accelerator pedal bracket.
INSTALLATION
Install in reverse order of removal, paying attention to the points below.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage or twist accelerator cable core.
When assembling, always apply oil to each part, except to inside of cable.
Check if accelerator pedal is free from contact with other parts, and releases smoothly.

INSPECTION AFTER INSTALLATION

Check if throttle drum opens fully when accelerator pedal is fully depressed to the floor, and operates
smoothly in all process.
ADJUSTING ACCELETOR WIRE
CAUTION:
Adjust accelerator cable wire when engine is warmed up and throttle valve is fully closed.
With loosened accelerator cable wire, pull outer case toward
accelerator pedal by adjusting nut. From position where throttle
drum starts moving (play is 0), turn back adjusting nut 1.5 to 2.0
turns. Then tighten lock nut.
CAUTION:
When tightening lock nuts, hold adjusting nut with open-end
wrench.
