SELF ACCEPTANCE

ABSTRACT

Contemporary research on individual differences in unconditional self

acceptance indicates that low unconditional self acceptance is detrimental to
well being and in some cases, could lead to mental health issues and mental
disorders.

Within this study a sample of adults was investigated inorder to observe

the level of their self acceptance and the relation between self acceptance and
study level. The correlation with age was also discussed. Social implications
also were highlighted for the studied sample.

Humanistic psychology, it could be maintained was the first

psychological theory that gave serious consideration to the value and
implications of self acceptance in psychology, at least in its more explicit and
positive constructions. As will be discussed, humanistic psychology began by
advocating for radical self acceptance that embraced a view of one self and
human nature, as essentially good.

INTRODUCTION

Self acceptance is acceptance of self. According to Shepard, self

acceptance is an individual's satisfaction or happiness with one self, and is
thought to be necessary for good mental health. Self acceptance involves self
understanding, a realistic, albeit subjective, awareness of one's strengths and
weaknesses. It results in an individuals feeling about oneself, that they are of
"unique worth".

In an clinical psychology and positive psychology, self acceptance is

considered the prerequisite for change to occur. It can be achieved by stopping
criticizing and solving t he defects of one's self, and then accepting them to be
existing within one's self. That is tolerating one self to be imperfect insome
parts.

Adverse parental evaluation can, and frequently does, go for beyond

disapproving specific behaviour. Happiness now happiness and self acceptance
go hand ion hand, infact your level of self acceptance determines your level of
happiness. The more self acceptance, you have the more happiness you'll allow
your self to accept, receive and enjoy.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study was mainly meant to measure self acceptance amonkg student
teachers and to develop the concept of self.

OBJECTIVES

Explain the concept of self esteem.

Analyse their personal strengths and weakness
Consider the role self-esteem plays in a healthy life.

HYPOTHESIS

Self acceptance is unconditional self love

Self acceptance is average in students.

DATA COLLECTION AND METHODOLOGY

According to Shepard (1979) acceptance is an individuals satisfaction of

happiness with oneself and a thought to be necessary for good mental health.

So prepared questionnaire based on testing self acceptance on the pattern

of 'True or False'. This question pattern given to 20 students of my college. The
students filled it according to pattern of true or false based on self acceptance.
Its a result, analysed their answers this analysis will lead to conclusion that how
may of them above average, average and below average in self acceptance.
In my this survey from the questions to twenty students 2 of them the t25
mark and in above average and 6them get 17 marks and in average in self
acceptance and the answer is checked with the correct answer of each question.
If both like the correct answer and students answer they got one mark otherwise
got zero mark.

Methodology

self acceptance involves our willingness to recognize and make peace

with parts of he self hat till new many have been denied Shienned. Becoming
more self accepting necessities that we begin to appreciated that ultimately were
not really to blame for anything. Whether its our looks intelligence or any of our
more questionable behaviour.

The survey on he basis of true or false method emphasis that, our action
have all been compelled by same combination of background and biology.
Going for ward we certainly can an inmost cases should take responsibility for
ways e have hurt or mistreated others. But if we are to productively work in
becoming more self accepting e must do so with compassion and forgiveness in
our heads. We need to realize that only 2 people from 20 peoples goes to above
average in self acceptance almost all of like 12 people will goes to below
average in self acceptance.

The result emphasis to take ourselves of the hook and gradually evolve to
a state of unconditions self acceptance, its crucial that we adopt an attitude of
self pardon for our hans goessions. In end, we may even come to realize that
there's nothing to forgive. The famous French expression Tout comprehdre (to
undersgtnad all to pardon all ) we will be able both to excuse ourselves for this
behaviours and repeating it in the future.

ANALYSIS

Through t his true or false method we include 20 students from the 20

students there is only two students will be in above average in self acceptance
and only six students will be average and 12 students will be below average in
self acceptance.

This result show that the most of the students will be below average of v.
Only few students is in average and above average. Adverse parentful
evaluation can and frequently does, go for beyond disapproving specific
behaviours. For example, parents may learner to us the over all message that
selfish- or not attractive enough, smart enough good or ice enough and so on. As
a result of what most mental health professional would agree reflects a subtitle
form of emotional abuse, almost all of us come to regard ourselves as only
conditional acceptable in consequence, we learn to regard many aspects of our
self negatively.

In the result shows becoming more self accepting necessities that we

begin to appreciate that, ultimately we're not really to blame for anything
-whether it's our looks, intelligence or any of our more questionable behavior.
But if we are to productively work on becoming more self accepting, we must
do so with compassion and forgiveness in our hearts. We need to reduce from
the result that given our internal programming upto to that point, we could
hardly have behaved differently.

MAJOR FINDINGS

Negative feelings low self esteem can be really closely linked to our
mood.
Low self-esteem denying who you are or being blind to what you really
want means to may suffer from low self esteem.
Living a lie-if go do not accept yourself you may push your self to be
what you are to and the result is a false life.
No trust in your self- low self confidence can follows when you are
unsure of who you are what you want.

CONCLUSION

To conclude, only when we're able to give ourselves unqualified

approved by developing grates self-compassion and focusing much more on our
positive than negative can we last forgive ourselves for our facults, as well as
reten quish our need for others approved. NO doubt we have made mistakes,
But then, so have everybody else. And in any case our identity is hardly equal to
our mistakes.

Its really about coming from a radically different place. If self acceptance is to
be earned a result of working hard on our selves, then its conditional - always of
risk. The ongoing job of accepting our selves can never be completed. Even
scoring on A+ in whether endeavour w are using to rate ourselves can offer an
only temporary respite from our striving. For the message we are giving
ourselves is that we are only as worth while as our latest achievement. Through
this true or false method we can see their is only 2 people is self accepted from
20 people with 34 questions and most of people are below average. This
average agrees the above statements.

From result shows that most of the people below self accepted to be
working hard on ourselves, that its conditional always at risk. Accepting
ourselves as we are today doesn't mean we will be without the motivation to
make changes or improvement that will make us more effective or that enrich
our lives. So changing our behavior become solely a matter of personal
performance.

SUGGESTIONS

We can improve our self-acceptance through following techniques.

1. Talk to someone

2. Separate from your emotion

3. Practice realized awareness.
