Theory:

Thesteamjetrefrigerationsystem(alsoknownasejectorsystemrefrigerationsystem)isoneofthe
oldestmethodsofproducingrefrigerationeffect.Thebasiccomponentsofthissystemarean
evaporator,acompressordevice,acondenserandarefrigerantcontroldevice.Thissystememploysa
steaminjectororbooster(insteadofmechanicalcompressor)tocompresstherefrigeranttothe FollowbyEmail
requiredcondenserpressurelevel.Inthissystem,waterisusedastherefrigerant.Sincethefreezing

Principleofsteamjetrefrigerationsystem:

onthesurfaceofaliquid,bysomemeans,thentheliquidwillstartboilingatlowertemperature,
becauseofreducedpressure.Thisbasicprincipalofboilingofliquidatlowertemperaturebyreducing
thepressureonitssurfaceisusedinsteamjetrefrigerationsystem.

Theboilingpointofpurewateratstandardatmosphericpressureof760mmofHgis100C.Itmaybe
notedthatwaterboilsat12Cifthepressureonthesurfaceofwateriskeptat0.014barandat7Cif
thepressureonthesurfaceofwateris0.01bar.Thereducedpressureonthesurfaceofwateris
maintainedbythrottlingthesteamthroughthejetsornozzles.

Workingofsteamjetrefrigerationsystem:

Theflashchamberorevaporatorisalargevesselandisheavilyinsulatedtoavoidtherisein
temperatureofwaterduetohighambienttemp.Itisfittedwithperforatedpipesforsprayingwater.
Thewarmwatercomingoutoftherefrigeratedspaceissprayedintotheflashwaterchamberwhere
someofwhichisconvertedintovapoursafterabsorbingthelatentheat,therebycoolingtherestof
water.

Thehighpressuresteamfromtheboilerispassedthroughthesteamnozzletherebyincreaseits
