COLUMN LOAD, P = 282.177 + WEIGHT OF COLUMN m = (370 - 294.5)/2 = 37.75 mm


P = 282.177 + 74.5(9.81)(9) = 288.75 KN n = (370 - 164)/2 = 103 mm
ALLOWABLE BEARING STRESS ON CONCRETE: THEREFORE x = 103 mm.
Fp = .35fc' = .35(21 MPa) = 7.35 MPa
ALLOWABLE BENDING STRESS ON STEEL: ACTUAL BEARING PRESSURE:
Fb = .75Fy = .75(248) = 186 MPa

*ASSUME THAT THE BASE PLATE WILL SUPPORT AN AXIAL


LOAD OF 1000KN.

FOR THE AREA OF THE BASE PLATE: t = 19 mm

CHECK FOR Pact:


N = 368.85 mm SAY 370 mm
N fp = 2.11 MPa

P = fp x A = 2.11 x 370 x 370
