Decision Making Process Example

Problem Description and Objective Statement:

I get a job in an electric supply company as Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) with
maximum salary and benefits.

Gathering Relevant Information and Defining the Viable


Alternatives:
I collect the relevant information about how to
apply for SDO job. I collect information through newspapers and web
resources .I see that minimum NTS test and minimum 3 CGPA in B.Sc.
Electrical Engineering is required. There is at least 60% marks are required in
Intermediate and Matric. Further I collect information about the various
electric supply companies .There are 12 big companies who are supplying
electricity in the Pakistan. Their names are given below.
1) Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO)
2) Hub Power Company
3) Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO)
4) Sukkur Electric Power Company
5) Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)
6) K- Electric
7) Kot Addu Power Company
8) Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)
9) Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO)
10) Electric Quetta Power Company (QESCO)
11) Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO)
12) Yousaf Sons Corporation

But there are only Foure electric supply companies who are offering SDO jobs
at current tim. Their names are given below which are viable alternatives.

1) Faisalabad Electric supply company (FESCO)


2) Lahore Electric Supply company (LESCO)
3) Multan Electric Power company (MEPCO)
4) K- Electric
To Identify the Criteria:

The followings are the decision


criteria factors which determine our decision.
1) Salary
2) Opportunities To Progress

4) Facilities

6) Timings

Criteria set To Identify the Criteria:

We allocate
maximum 10 marks for each decision criteria factors then we give each
company marks according to their performance.

Best alternative selection:

We can see that after the


comparison the LESCO scored maximum among the 4 companies.so I choose
LESCO as best alternative.

Implementation and monitoring:

After the best


alternative selection I apply for job in LESCO. I monitor the results of NTS test
and interview and I passed these test and interview.
