B.Tech ME-8TH Semester

1. Calculate the angle of incidence of beam radiation on a plane surface, tilted by 45


from horizontal plane and pointing 30 west of south located at Mumbai at 1:30 PM,
on 15th November. The longitude and latitude of Mumbai are 7249 E and 1854 N
respectively. The standard longitude for IST is 8144 E.

2. Calculate the number of day of light hours (sunshine hours) in Dehradun on January 1
and July 1. The latitude of Dehradun is 30.31 N.

3. For Dehradun (30.3165 N, 78.0322 E), calculate the zenith angle of the sun at 2:30
PM. On 20th February 2015. The standard IST latitude for India is 8144 E.

4. Calculate the number of day light hours at Bangalore on 21 st June and 21st December
in a leap year. The latitude of Bangalore is 1252 N.

5. Calculate the angle of incidence on horizontal surface at Kolkata, at 14:00 hrs , on


march 21st , in a leap year . The longitude and latitude of Kolkata are 8820 E and
2232 N respectively. The standard longitude for IST is 8144 E.

6. How does the collection of solar energy is affected by tilting a flat plate collector
with respect to ground.

7. For Jaipur (2655 N, 7549 E), calculate the zenith angle of the sun at 9:30 AM on
10 October 2015. The standard longitude for IST is 8144 E.
