BUSINESS PROCESS MODELLING

Every business consists of various activities going on simultaneously for different

processes. Thus to streamline the flow of activities it is important to map those
processes. This is where Business process modelling comes into play. BPM is a
technique which helps an organization to diagrammatically represent the flow of
activities and events involved in a process along with the details of the activity/action
owners. BPM is a cross-functional modelling technique which represents the workflow
of more than one department of an organization. It sometimes even include the
activities and processes of external organizations.

The basic purpose of Business process modelling techniques is to depict the overall
picture of the whole process which enables an organization to search for bottlenecks (if
any) and thus improve and streamline the process.
