IBM, San Jose, CA
Software Engineer Management Console for DB2, Analytics
2015 to 2016
Served as a full-stack developer for the web-based Management Console utility used for management, maintenance, and
application of DB2 databases. The utility was designed for enterprise use.
Significantly enhanced the readability and usability of the user interface handling DB2s LISTDEF function by revamping
it to feature a more streamlined layout, more robust check of user input, and additional help links, employing JavaScript,
Dojo framework, HTML, and CSS.
Became the first developer on the team to write code to add z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) support to Management
Console, making the tool much more powerful by consolidating a feature previously only available via a separate website.
Implemented back-end written in Java and used a REST API to drive functionality required to connect to a z/OSMF
subsystem and employ it to perform various other tasks, including installation, migration, and cloning.
The back-end involved using data structures such as lists and maps, algorithms for searching and updates, objectoriented paradigms such as abstraction and inheritance, and the JDBC framework to accomplish tasks.
Implemented front-end in JavaScript to handle user interaction/input and display status/messages, utilizing JSON.
Maintained high quality of code and adhered to standards and best practices.
Consulted with high-profile customers, including Citibank and Nationwide, throughout the development process, with
initial customer previews yielding positive feedback and suggestions.
Tasks involved significant design considerations and reviews, problem solving, and discussion and documentation
of what was done.
Agile development process was used.
Earned a Managers Choice Award for teamwork and contribution to the z/OSMF project.
Software Engineer DB2 Tools, Analytics
2014 to 2015
Contributed as a developer for DB2s Administration and Object Comparison Tools. Implemented tasks using IBM languages
such as REXX, PL/1, and code for the panels; wrote queries to access information from DB2 databases.
Achieved a more user-friendly interface by enhancing the ISPF front-end to allow users to control display of layout and
objects (databases, tables, indexes) in panels.
Improved flexibility of stored values by providing support for Unicode columns in non-Unicode database tables.
Facilitated efficient resolution of design requirements and completion of tasks by applying Agile development principles;
provided enhancements that became part of a major release and garnered positive customer feedback.
HEWLETT-PACKARD, Sunnyvale, CA
Intern Software Division
2013
Worked with cloud computing and Salesforce CRM software to track and resolve customer-reported issues.
Allowed for more concise reporting of Fortify security analysis software issues by integrating different bug tracking
systems, such as Bugzilla and HPs Quality Center into a single system on Jira, and designing a new workflow process.
Enabled easier, more efficient tracking of event logs from different software by developing a log file parser in Java that
handled different formats from different applications, then uploaded results to a single database via object-relational
mapping using the Hibernate framework and SQL.

CALIFORNIA POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY, San Luis Obispo, CA

Student Assistant Servers Group
2011 to 2014
Added, configured, monitored, and decommissioned servers on a large monitoring network that primarily used Linux and
VMware development, test, and production servers for university portal, email, and student services. Managed servers such
as Apache Tomcat, Drupal, and Openfire for applications and frameworks. Utilized Perl and Shell to write new small scripts
or update existing ones related to server functionality and tests. Handled intra-department tasks via online service requests.
Personally closed an average of 4-5 service requests per week.
Played a key role in streamlining the network by decommissioning outdated servers and adding newer, more efficient ones.
Wrote/modified scripts that enabled more automated monitoring, testing, and functionality tests to be used by the network.
