What is the University of Auckland's


standard mark grade scale?
The University has a standard grading scale which is in use for most, but not all,
courses.
Departments can vary the mark grading scale used and can scale marks for any paper
if the Academic Head has approved such variation for a course. The same grading
scale must be applied to all students in a course but can be varied between courses or
years.
The University's standard grading scale is (note: this may not be the scale for your
course/s):

A+

90-100%

85-89%

A-

80-84%

B+

75-79%

70-74%

B-

65-69%

C+

60-64%

55-59%

C-

50-54%

D+

45-49%

40-44%

D-

0-39%

The grades C-, C, C+, B-, B, B+, A-, A, A+ are passing grades.
The grades D-, D, D+ are fail grades.
This scale is not used by all departments for all courses. For more information on the
specific grading scale in use by your department or course, please contact the
department directly.
