Stock Analysis Project Fundamental and Technical Analysis


The stock analysis project is to be done in a group of 5 to 6 students.
Company selectionThe project requires the selection of two companies of same industry. Please select only such companies for
which financial data is available. The companies should be listed on a major Indian stock exchange for at
least last three years.
To be completed by September 19th (Saturday)- The name of the company along with the names and
enrollment nos. of team members should be sent to [email protected]. No two teams can have same
Companies. You may check the excel file on SM folder to know the names of the companies already selected
by other groups.
Project Report- (Hard copy to be submitted by 5th October (Monday)
You are required to carry out the fundamental and technical analysis of the company on the basis of secondary
data.

Fundamental Analysis
1. Economy Analysis- Provide an overview of the economy, including major economic indicators.
2. Industry Analysis- Provide a detailed analysis of the industry in terms of growth, competition, future
prospects etc.
3. Company Analysis

Provide a brief overview of your companys business and operations.

Provide qualitative analysis of companys fundamentals.

Provide a complete analysis of your firms ratios. Only those ratios which have been covered in
Securities Analysis and Valuation lecture. Calculate the ratios for past three years and write
comparison and interpretation of the ratios.

Technical Analysis
4. Carry out a technical analysis of your stock using charts.
5. Compare your stocks performance with market performance (i.e., BSE SENSEX, NSE Nifty, etc.)
using graphs for last two years. Interpretation of graphs is more important.
6. Do your stocks appear over or undervalued on the basis of information discussed in point #1 to #5?
Comment and discuss.
For collecting the above information students can use websites like indiainfoline.com, moneycontrol.com,
icicidirect.com and website of the company etc.
If you uncover interesting information about your firm include it into your analysis. Dont just report a
fact or newspaper item..add value! analyze it.what is the impact of the information.

Assessment-

Every group member has to contribute in the project and clearly mention the work done by each
group member. Viva-voce of the project will be taken from 12th Oct. to 17th Oct. 2015. Viva will be
taken from the whole project and not just the part done by you.

NOTE: Late submission will attract a deduction of 5 marks.
