PHILOSOPHY
DEFINITION OF PHILOSOPHY

Every individual is unique in his/her way of thinking about life. We have

different
insights that we always ponder wherein it became an integral factor of
a

persons

well-being which affects our beliefs. The sets of ideas concerning the
knowledge,
truth and values will denote the word Philosophy. Standing on your
principle

and

points of view will imply the characteristic of the philosophy you are
practicing.

In

line to teaching, philosophy is a self-reflective statement of your beliefs

about
teaching and learning. It should also elaborate how you put your
beliefs into practice by including concrete examples of what you do or
anticipate doing in the classroom.

PERSONAL EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

In becoming a teacher, I will live with my own philosophy of
education as a High School Teacher.
I believe with convictions that every learner:
has innate interest in acquiring knowledge and has the ability to

learn
is learning suitable to what is trending in their present generation
gets more interested in a particular subject if she relates the
lessointo their lives and incorporate learning in daily actual

situations.
is vulnerable to the influence of surroundings.
has their genuine way and style of learning
are intelligent naturally and occurrence of their mind stimulation

as much as possible will trigger on their capacities.

should learn according to what is being demanded by the current

society.
is learning more effectively if they are able to integrate to the
new lessons presented to what they already known (prior
knowledge).

The knowledge that had been taught through the years must be
passed to every learner. Likewise, they should also learn the current
facts that being discovered lately. Becoming dynamic to the present
discoveries of learning style will push to the student to the verge of
their full capacity.

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
It is the responsible of teacher to become the best model of
knowledge. They must possess the very values that he/she is about to
inculcate and incorporate to every lessons, not just in the classroom
but also in life.
The teacher must have the teaching philosophy to be put in
real teaching development. I strongly believe that teacher's task is to
ease

the learning development to its highest level by:

looking unto every learner with fair and unbiased treatments
having the routine of practicing the values in daily learning.
develop child holistic aspects: mind, heart and body
making the child to become secured and happy about

themselves.
recollecting the basic knowledge that had been taught and

integrate it to the new ideas and facts being presented.

becoming the most expert that the child is seeing in the

classroom through proficiency of the subject matter

showing love and respect to every learner and promote care

among learners despite of multicultural diversity.

motivating the child's interest to the subject matter through

relating those lesson in actual situation.

These philosophies will be your guide to efficient learning development
and your weapon in struggling the real fight of life.
MY PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy in my life (teaching) is simple.
Becoming the most proficient of every aspect and portion of your
selected field of interest in the eyes of your aspirant (student) is the
only door to open the individual's treasure's chest. How you live your

life in this world is the best manifestation of living with sense and
purpose.

PHILOSOPHY SYMBOLS

II.

YOU ARE A TEACHER

TEACHING AS A VOCATION
Teaching is like a ship which is operated by the captain, he leads
the passenger to their destination safely. Teaching is like a commander
calling out the attention his subordinates to give order of their
assignment to be done. Many people especially to philosophers of
education are viewing teaching in various perspectives. But we can
view it in a way with only three major aspects. Teaching will fall into
these domains which mainly connotes the essence of why we teach,
what is to teach and where we are being led by teaching. Teaching will
be view as a vocation. The fact that you have already been responded
since you felt you are called to teach and impart knowledge to others
is why it is definitely a vocation. Indeed, it is a call. A call from
someone that could be the Divine Being or it came from the innermost
feeling and desire of our whole being to teach. I never had imagined
that I will say yes to this call for I have no intention back then.
Discernment of things must takes place to a person whom being called
so that he will totally realize that teaching is a vocation that God is
offering to us.

TEACHING AS MISSION
Teaching shall be regarded as a mission for you have given a
task that you are about to accomplish. A mission needs stuff that
should be acquired to execute task the knowledge. A teacher is
prepared and equipped with abilities and wisdom to become a
productive teacher. Being a teacher is a forever journey that will
endure forever until your life ends. But the most important of being a
teacher is that you must made a legacy to your student. Do not just
impart knowledge, but rather mold them to become human. Along the
journey, never ever take a single chance oof aborting the mission. I am
not referring to retreating the task while you are studying to become a
teacher, but rather continue learning even you had already finished the
program. Teaching is life and life must continue to feed in order to
sustain and so teaching must commit to unending perseverance of
excellence

upgrading.

Every

mission

of

every

teachers

is

distinguishing identity. A teacher must offer him/herself and execute

his mission in a better and genuine way. It is not enough to fill
knowledge an empty shell but we are also liable to shape the student
become human. Some people are confuse of a mission and job. Well
the two are far different from each other. If you are teaching while
expecting something in return and above your monetary profit, then it
is merely a job. A teaching requires extreme sacrifice that may come to
the point of letting go of pleasurable things in life. A mission is

successfully accomplished only if you have meet the Most Divine Being
and He will say: Mission well done!

TEACHER AS A PROFESSION
Teaching is referred by many as the noblest profession and
the profession of all professions. Profession demands a long time of
laborious efforts of studying and persevering for greatness and so as
teachers did. Their four to five years of endurance will trigger to a
greater commitment to serve. In order to become a teacher of adept
excellence, he/she must undergo all the suffering in gaining all the
required knowledge. As the saying goes We cannot give what we
dont have. How will you embark yourself in mission without having
provided yourself with skills? The same this as you cannot love without
loving yourself first. Professional leaves mark to their path. Being a
teacher is leaving a mark to not only in the mind of learners but also in
their life. We must strive for bigger world of professionalism and
superbness. Teaching will be a continuous and forever learning of
quality education. Part of striving for excellence is the inculcation of
moral and ethical values into ourselves which you will eventually
transfer to your future students. You must be the best of all the best in
the eyes of your learners.

SYNOPSIS OF PROFESSIONAL READINGS IN RELATION TO

EDUCATION

How to Discipline Children and Help Them Develop Self-Control
By Joseph the Dreamer
The foundations for discipline are laid down in the early years.
Flexibility is the key to discipline as children grow. Parents must be
prepared to modify their discipline approach over time, using different
strategies as their child develops greater independence and capacity
for self-regulation and responsibility. During adolescence, the
individuals become responsible for their own behavior. Establishing
self-control is a process which develops slowly, and the ultimate goal of
discipline is to help children build their own self-control, not to have
them merely obey adult commands.
How do children raised by these types of parents grow up? Follow-up
studies show that the moderate way, between extreme permissiveness
and extreme strictness, is the most effective of the three styles.
Children raised by authoritative/moderate parents tended to have a
good self-concept and to be responsible, cooperative, self-reliant and
intellectually curious. Children raised by authoritarian/strict parents
tended to be timid and withdrawn, less intellectually curious and
dependent on the voice of authority. Children raised by permissive
parents tended to be immature, reluctant to accept responsibility or to
show independence.
Following are some helpful discipline techniques:

Use language to help solve problems

Ignoring
Rewards
Natural consequences
No more no keep it positive
Don't dictate: negotiate
Pick your battles
Prevention
What doesn't work
When to seek help

2.
The Fourth Way: The Inspiring Future for Educational Change,
By Andy Hargreaves and Dennis Shirley
"In some places, Third Way politics have barely begun. In others, they
have been pushed as far as they can go. It is high time for a new
Fourth Way of social and educational reform. In this unique and
excellent text, Andy Hargreaves and Dennis Shirley set out this way for
the very first time, and also provide crystal clear examples of what it
looks like in practice." (Anthony Giddens, Director, London School of
Economics). "In this timely and inspirational book, Andy Hargreaves
and Dennis Shirley challenge our current thinking about educational
change. Their argument for interdependence, empowerment, collective
courage, and professionalism will resonate with all who have wrestled
with these issues. It will leave a lasting impression.
3.
Death by Meeting
By Patrick Lencioni
In his latest page-turning work of business fiction, best-selling author
Patrick Lencioni provides readers with another powerful and thoughtprovoking book, this one centered on a cure for the most painful yet

underestimated problem of modern business: bad meetings. And what

he suggests is both simple and revolutionary. As in his other books,
Lencioni provides a framework for his groundbreaking model, and
makes it applicable to the real world. Death by Meeting is nothing short
of a blueprint for leaders who want to eliminate waste and frustration
among their teams, and create environments of engagement and
passion.
4.
What Would Google Do?
By Jeff Jarvis
Jarvis, columnist and blogger about media, presents his ideas for
surviving and prospering in the Internet age, with its new set of rules
for emerging technologies as well as industries such as retail,
manufacturing, and service. We learn that customers are now in
charge, people anywhere can find each other and join forces to support
a companys efforts or oppose them, life and business are more public,
conversation has replaced marketing, and openness is the key to
success. Jarvis offers thought-provoking observations and valuable
examples for individuals and businesses seeking to fully participate in
our Internet culture and maximize the opportunities it offers. It is
unclear what role Google played, if any, in the preparation of this book,
which provides excellent advertising for the company.
5.
Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Other Die,
By Chip Heath and Dan Heath

Why do some ideas thrive while others die? And how do we improve
the chances of worthy ideas? In Made to Stick, accomplished educators
and idea collectors Chip and Dan Heath tackle head-on these vexing
questions. Inside, the brothers Heath reveal the anatomy of ideas that
stick and explain ways to make ideas stickier, such as applying the
human scale principle, using the Velcro Theory of Memory, and
creating curiosity gaps.Made to Stick is a book that will transform the
way you communicate ideas. Its a fast-paced tour of success stories
(and failures)the Nobel Prize-winning scientist who drank a glass of
bacteria to prove a point about stomach ulcers; the charities who make
use of the Mother Teresa Effect; the elementary-school teacher
whose simulation actually prevented racial prejudice. Provocative, eyeopening, and often surprisingly funny, made to Stick shows us the vital
principles of winning ideasand tells us how we can apply these rules
to making our own messages stick

In this lesson, it had emphasized the importance of incorporating the

values into the teaching-learning process. We have different view on
values. If you believe that values is an unchanging truth about right
and wrong so as it applies to every individual then you belonged to the
transcendent. Otherwise, if you pursue that values depends on time
and place, you simply adhere to antagonistic view. Most people remain
transcendent in values and there are obvious basis that these values is
most valued one by many rich in philosophical heritage. Choosing what

kind of value you will live with is very essential in human. Many will
confuse you about these values. But the decision is always in your
hands. Pick the value which you think necessary to love a life full of
meaning. Live the values among other alternatives after you had
discerned all the consequences.
