Traverse Sheet Explained

This document contains a traverse sheet summarizing the distances, directions, coordinate differences, and calculations performed for an unspecified traverse survey. It lists the station names and coordinates, distances and directions between stations, delta Y and delta X values, misclosures, corrections, and final calculated coordinates for unknown stations. The purpose is to document the calculations to determine final coordinates for all points in the traverse from the initial known coordinates and field measurements.

1 Fill in the names of the points starting with the first known point and leaving 2 lines open fill in the next point.
Continue with this until you reach the last known point

2 Write in the coordinates of the known points

3 Write between the two lines of the first point to the second point the distance and direction
Continue with this until you reach the last point

4 Add up the distances

5 Subtract the known points Y and X coordinates from each other
Bottom - Top e.g. 1000-731.4=268.6

6 Use the distance and direction between the points and calculate the y and x , use the same method as for calculating the polar
Write it in the correct columns

7
8
9
10

Add up the y's and then the x's

Calculate the misclosures by subtracting cy from ay and cx from ax e.g.. ay -cy and ax-cx
Calculate the corrections by using the distance of the traverse leg divide by the sum of the distance times the misclosures for y or x
Calculate final coordinates for the first unknown point by adding y and the correction to the first points Y coordinate
And the same for the X coordinate

11 Continue for the next point by using the new coordinate of the previous point until all the coordinates is calculated
12 Calculate Linear misclosure, accuracy and the class of the traverse
