The system does not boot from the floppy drive.
Read the documentation of your system and set up the BIOS to boot from the floppy drive.
Check the consistency of the diskette with ScanDisk.
An application launched from the CD-ROM tries to write on its own directory.
If possible, set up its temporary directory on one of your hard drives.
An application launched from the CD-ROM states that it cannot find some necessary files.
Since access times are far greater for CD-ROMs than for hard drives, some application may time out.
This can generally be solved for each application individually.
Qualystem Rescue system makes use RAMDrive. Hence, it is possible to copy the involved files
onto the RAMDrive and tell the application to search them at this location.
Another solution is to force your application to use the files located on the hard disk.
The Qualystem File Synchronizer complains about a long file name.
A static VxD is invoked from a path with a long file
files\symantec\symevnt.386).

name

(e.g.

c:\program

Its name is then changed to a short one (e.g. c:\progra~1\symantec\symevnt.386).

But, when booting from a CD-ROM, the filesystem in use cannot handle long file names (because the
VxD in charge of them has not been loaded yet), and the short file names on the CD-ROM are not the
same as the ones on a hard drive. As a result, we advise you to install the programs that require VxDs
in directories with short file names (e.g. c:\symantec). You can also trick the registry, but this
manipulation is for experienced users.
