written work assigned must be turned in the day they are due. The due dates will be
announced in class.
ATTENDANCE
Regular attendance is essential. If a student needs to be absent for any reason, he or she
should notify the instructor. Too many unexcused absences will result in either being
dropped from the course or a lowering of the final grade (by 15%) or an F. If the student
stops attending the class, it is the student's responsibilities to officially drop the class
(see Pg. 5 of Summer schedule of classes, Sunday, June 28 2015). After three absences
the students will be dropped. Tardy: Three (3) tardy will be considered the equivalent of
one day absence. Also refer to pg. 163 of schedule with regard to dropping a class.
Whenever absences "in hours" exceed the number of hours the class meets per week, the
student may be excluded from class by the instructor. It is impossible to participate in
class if you are absent. Consequently, participation is based on attending the full period,
as well as performance in class.
CHEATING POLICY Cheating constitutes academic dishonesty and, in general will be
handled as part of the course grading process. Penalty may range from no credit for the
assignment up to and including exclusion and/ or an "F" grade for the course.

As in all accredited colleges and universities, a minimum of two hours of study of
preparation for each hour of class time is the norm for achieving a passing grade. In the
case of this five- unit class, students must expect to devote a minimum of ten hours of
outside preparation per week. Some students may need to devote significantly more time
to out-side study. To pass this course, students must pass both the semester work and
the final exam. It is highly recommended that the student should have a dictionary for the
