Water Storage Tank Calculations

This document contains calculations for the water storage tank capacity needed for a new construction project in Shahunagar, Belgaum. It tabulates the different plumbing fixtures on each floor and calculates their water fixture unit values. The total fixture units for the building is 851.4. The peak flow is calculated as 180 gallons per minute. The required daily water consumption is 32,400 gallons or 122,647 liters. The size of the overhead water tank for each floor is determined to be 61,323 liters. The underground water storage tank size is calculated to be 246 cubic meters, with each of the two tanks needing a capacity of 123,300 liters.

Peak flow = Average flow x peak factor
where : Average flow = daily consumpt
Per day usage = 9 hours (cons
Peak factor = 3
Therefore, Daily consumption = Peak flow x Hours per day usage / Peak factor
= 180 gpm x 9 hours x 60 minutes / 3 = 32,400 gallons = 122,647

Overhead Tanks are divided into 2 nos, So Each Tank Will have 61,323 Litres Capacity.
Under Groundr Storage Tank Size:
Assuming a Frequency rate of 2: Means every Alternate day Municiple Water sevice rate
Considering 2-day storage, the rquired Water Storage Tank Capacity = (123 x 2) = 246 m3
Under Groundr Storage Tank Size: = 246 m3
Underground Tanks are divided into 2 nos, So Each Tank Will have 123,300 Litres Capacity.
Hence, the required size of the water storage tank is : L (length) = 10 m, W (width) = 6 m, D(depth) = 3.20 m
