The Revised Basic Education Curriculum

The Revised Basic Education Curriculum (RBEC) is the result of a 16-year study by the Department of Education to improve curriculum and instruction. It requires teachers to base their syllabi on RBEC objectives and department heads to monitor implementation through classroom observations. RBEC also implemented new subjects like Makabayan and focused on skills, values, personal development, and contributing to a changing society. The strengths include helping young learners read, integrating subjects holistically, emphasizing values and patriotism, and developing critical thinking. However, weaknesses are that the methods are not clearly defined nor is content delivery or technology integration.
