Cricket

Cricket is a game played between two teams of

11 players each on a field at the center of which is a
rectangular 22-yard long pitch. Each team takes its turn
to bat, attempting to score runs, while the other team
fields. Each turn is known as an innings. The
International Cricket Council (ICC), which has its
headquarters in Dubai, is the international governing
body of cricket. It was founded as the Imperial Cricket
Conference in 1909 by representatives from England,
Australia and South Africa, renamed the International
Cricket Conference in 1965, and took up its current name
in 1989. The ICC has 104 members. The ICC is
responsible for the organization and governance of
4

cricket's major international tournaments, notably the

Cricket World Cup. The ICC is also responsible for
appointing umpires and referees that officiate all sanction
matches. Every nation has its own board for conducting
matches in country

BASEBALL

Baseball is a game played between two teams of nine

players who take turns batting and fielding. The offense
attempts to score runs by hitting a ball thrown by the
pitcher with a bat and moving counter-clockwise around a
series of four bases: first, second, third and home plate. A
run is scored when the runner advances around the bases
and returns to home plate. Players on the batting team
take turns hitting against the pitcher of the fielding team,
which tries to prevent runs by getting hitters out in any of
several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at
any of the bases and later advance on a teammate's hit
5

or other means. The teams switch between batting and

fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs.
One turn at bat for both teams, beginning with the
visiting team, constitutes an inning, and nine innings a
game. The team with the greater number of runs at the
end of the game wins.

LAWN TENNIS

Lawn Tennis is a sport people play individually against a single

opponent (singles) or between two teams of two players each
(doubles). Each player uses a racquet that is strung with cord to
strike a hollow rubber ball covered with felt over or around a net
and into the opponent's court. The object of the game is to play
the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a good
return. Tennis is an Olympic sport and is played at all levels of
society and at all ages. The sport can be played by anyone who
can hold a racquet, including wheelchair users. The modern game
of tennis originated in Birmingham, England, in the late 19th
century as "lawn tennis"
The four Grand Slam
tournaments are considered to be the most prestigious tennis
events in the world. They are held annually and comprise, in
chronological order, the Australian Open, the French Open,
Wimbledon, and the US Open. Apart from the Olympic Games,
Davis Cup, Fed Cup, and Hopman Cup, they are the only
tournaments regulated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF)

GOLF

Golf is a precision club and ball sport in which competing players

(or golfers) use many types of clubs to hit balls into a series of
holes on a course using the fewest number of strokes. Golf is
defined, in the rules of golf, as "playing a ball with a club from the
teeing ground into the hole by a stroke or successive strokes in
accordance with the Rules." While the modern game of golf
originated in 15th-century Scotland, the game's ancient origins
are unclear and much debated. Every round of golf is based on
playing a number of holes in a given order. A "round" typically
consists of 18 holes that are played in the order determined by
the course layout. On a standard course of 18 holes, each hole is
played once in the round; on a nine-hole course, players may play
a "short game" playing each hole once, or a "full round" by
playing each hole twice. There are at least twenty professional
golf tours, each run by a PGA or an independent tour
organization, which is responsible for arranging events,

Soya bean
The soybean (US) or soya bean (UK) (Glycine max)
[2] is a species of legume native to East Asia,
widely grown for its edible bean which has
numerous uses. The plant is classed as an oilseed
rather than a pulse by the UN Food and Agricultural
Organization (FAO).Soy varies in growth and habit.
The height of the plant varies from less than 0.2 to
2.0 m (0.66 to 6.56 ft.) The pods, stems, and
leaves are covered with fine brown or gray hairs.
The leaves are trifoliate, having three to four
leaflets per leaf, and the leaflets are 615 cm (2.4
5.9 in) long and 27 cm (0.792.76 in) broad. The
leaves fall before the seeds are mature. The
inconspicuous, self-fertile flowers are borne in the
axil of the leaf and are white, pink or purple. The
11

fruit is a hairy pod that grows in clusters of three to

five, each pod is 38 cm long (13 in) and usually
contains two to four (rarely more) seeds 511 mm
in diameter. Soybeans occur in various sizes, and in
many hull or seed coat colors, including black,
brown, blue, yel low, green and mottled.
