Site Visit Notes: Student Name: Courtney Roof Date/Site Visit Number: 12/4, 4 School: Grade Level/Subject: English

Courtney Roof observed an English classroom on 12/4. Students shared first drafts of short essays on the smartboard and received peer feedback. This addressed teaching standards around reading, writing, and oral communication. Breaking down essays helped students identify strengths and areas for improvement. Peer editing provided additional critique and perspectives. Students then wrote about their weekend and shared orally, practicing including key essay elements. The peer feedback and sharing appeared to positively impact student learning. The teacher effectively gave praise and constructive criticism. An emerging question is whether an example essay should be shown to set expectations before assignments.
