Notebook 10

The document contains charts that plot milliamperage, kilovoltage, and time to guide the safe maximum combinations of technical factors that can be used without overloading an x-ray tube. It discusses using the charts to calculate the necessary cooling time for an anode after exposures and determines if a particular exposure is within the limits of a single phase, 0.6 mm focal spot tube rating.

Sammy Puccini

These charts are guides the maximum combinations or technical factors that can be used
without overloading the tube. They plot milliamperage, kilovoltage, and time. Mostly any
combinations under the curve is safe

Question: According to the above chart, calculate the length of time necessary for the
anode to cool to 75,000 HU after five exposures of 80 kVp, 500 mA and 0.5 seconds on a
single-phase unit = 1.5 minutes

Question: Is an exposure of 100 kVP, 0.2 second and 200 mA within the limits of the
single phase, .6 mm focal spot tube rating? No
