Introduction

Introduction

1.1

Welcome

This document contains information and instructions to install CostPerform or to upgrade a previous
version.
The standalone installation installs CostPerform in C:\Program Files\CostPerform\ (unless you
change this during installation). All components are installed in this directory and you dont need to
install anything else separately. The standard database for CostPerform standalone is MySQL.

1.2

Prerequisites installation
In this chapter you will find the prerequisites for installing CostPerform.
1. You have a license and have a username and password.
2. A recent PC with at least 1 GB internal memory and 600 MB diskspace and Windows XP or
higher.
3. It is recommended that the user installing CostPerform has administrator privileges. He should at
least have rights to create files and folders. For a Standalone or Server installation, Modify access
to the server folder inside the CostPerform installation folder (usually C:\Program
Files\CostPerform\server) is required, otherwise users won't be able to log in. Note that failing to
set the access rights to the server folder correctly can cause more severe (and less obvious)
problems in combination with virtualization. For a Standalone installation, if the user installing
CostPerform has administrator privileges, the installer offers to set Modify rights to the server
folder automatically. It is also possible to set these privileges later, either manually or using the
Set Permissions button in the CostPerform Control Center.

2.1

Download the installation software

You can download the CostPerform installationset from our website https://www.costperform.com/
support/downloads. Log in with your username and password.

Select Downloads.
Choose Full setup if you do not have a CostPerform version.
Choose Update if you want to upgrade CostPerform.

2.2

New version of CostPerform

Make sure your rights are sufficient when installing CostPerform.
1. When the download is completed you can execute the file (CostPerform [version number] Setup.
exe).

2. After reading the introduction you can click on the next button.
3. Click on the next button if you accept the license agreement.
4. Choose the Standalone installation in the Choose Install Set screen and click on the next button.

5. Choose a install folder to install CostPerform and click on next.

6. Specify server configurations, fill in the name or IP adress of the application server and click on
next.
7. At the connection options choose if you want to load and refresh the costmodels directly from
database, enter the server port and bind your networkcard to a specific address and click on next.
8. Choose a location for the shortcut folder and click on next.
9. After reading the Pre-installation summary click on install to install CostPerform.
10. Choose if you want to set the permissions automatically or later and click on next.
11. When InstallAnywhere indicated the installation was successful, click on done.
After the installation the ReadMe opens, this contains all the bug fixes and the changes made.

2.3

Update CostPerform online

Updating a previous version of CostPerform can be arranged online from the previous version. If
needed, the upgrade procedure will automatically create a backup of the database during the
upgrade process. However, we recommend also creating a database backup manually before
starting the upgrade (if a database backup is made on a regular basis, the manual backup can be
omitted).
PLEASE NOTE: Abort the upgrade procedure can cause a corrupt installation.

2. After opening the screen you try to login to our update-server, click on Yes to continue.
3. Log in with your username and password.
4. The next screen will check if there is a new version found. If so click on Ok . (The update will be
automatically downloaded to the right place. You can use the other option on the screen when
you want to download but not want to update yet.)

5. When the CostPerform update is completed, click on the Ok button to continue.

6. Close the Control Center.

7. Restart the Control Center. (A waiting window appears and after this the upgrade is completed)
8. If your version needs a database update, the upgrade procedure can take some time to backup
and restore your complete database.

2.4

Update CostPerform offline

The following steps can be followed to manually update CostPerform. If needed, the upgrade
procedure will automatically create a backup of the database during the upgrade process. However,
we recommend also creating a database backup manually before starting the upgrade (if a database
backup is made on a regular basis, the manual backup can be omitted).
PLEASE NOTE: Abort the upgrade procedure can cause a corrupt installation.
1. First download the update from our website.
2. In the Control Center click on Check for update.

Click on skip.
Select the offline installation option.
Localize the downloaded update_default.zip and click on Ok .

7. When the CostPerform update is completed, click on the Ok button to continue.

8. Close the Control Center.

9. Restart the Control Center. (A waiting window appears and after this the upgrade is completed)
10. If your version needs a database update, the upgrade procedure can take some time to backup
and restore your complete database.

Add license

To add a license you can open the Control Center. This can be done via the start menu or the icons
on the desktop.

1. If the Control Center is opened, click on License Manager.

2. In the license screen click on the Add button.

3. Answer the question if you would like to retrieve the list of license codes with Yes. (The PC must
be connected with the internet).
4. Log in with your username and password.
5. Select a license from the list and click on the add button.
6. The License Manager indicates that the license had been added successfully. (If not read here
the steps to take to manually license).
7. You can start the Standalone client from the Control Center and log in with user: admin and
password: admin.

Manually add license

To add a license manually you can go to our website https://www.costperform.com/support/licenses.

Select Licenses.
Click on New License.
Select the license from the list.
Supply the Locking code. You will find the code on the screen Add License in the License
Manager of CostPerform. You have to supply the Time code also when using a temporary license.
You will find the Time code on the screen Add License in the License Manager of CostPerform
6. Click on Activate.
7. The license code appears. Copy ore email the license code.
8. Go back to the window Add License in the License Manager and paste the license code.
9. Click on Add.
10.The License Manager indicates that the license had been added successfully.
11. You can start the Standalone client from the Control Center and log in with user: admin and
password: admin.

Problem with license

Below are the possible problems you may encounter while adding a license.
1. The license website will not open, or no list with licenses is shown .
- Probably the firewall k eeps the connection closed and you need to go through the manual licensing
procedure.
2. There is a connection, but the list of licenses is not shown/empty.
- Contact our helpdesk . The license is not ready or the license is already used.
3. There is a connection, you can choose the license, but the license is not added.
- Probably you dont have rights to write in the installation directory. Log on to your pc as
administrator or mak e sure the user has enough rights. Or otherwise, contact our helpdesk .

4.2

Problem with update

Below are the possible problems you may encounter while updating CostPerform.
1. When using the fileshare or update functionality from the Control Center, an error message is
shown that the server cannot be reached or validated. From within CostPerform, the What's New
and Info Center don't work. This is due to a new certificate on the QPR CostControl's server.
- Go to https://www.costperform.com/support/k nown-issues and type 2190 in the filter to get a
solution for the problem.
