INTRODUCTION

This document provides an overview on the accounts being used in the openSAP course Build
Your Own SAP Fiori App in the Cloud 2016 Edition. It is meant as a quick reference on how
to access and/or create your personal accounts or how to access the systems being used
throughout the course.
Note
Please note that a dedicated user and password is needed for most of the systems
and accounts.

The SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP) is the platform-as-a-service
offering from SAP that provides instant access to the full power of
SAP HANA. With flexible subscription models, it enables you to build,
extend, and run applications on SAP HANA in the cloud.

SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition

With the SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition, you can try a selection of
transactional apps that apply the SAP Fiori UX to sample data and
enjoy a beautiful user experience that is personalized, responsive,
and simple. You can experience apps across different lines of
business.

SAP Splash & BUILD

SAPs UX strategy is about the design and development of delightful
applications according to the SAP Fiori concept. SAP Splash
provides knowledge, tools, and inspiration that will help you to create
apps that users love. And BUILD is a new cloud-based collaborative
design tool offered within SAP Splash.

SAP Gateway Demo Consumption


System (ES4)

The SAP Gateway Demo Consumption System is a readonly system. It provides data for demos, tutorials, and any
other software that you are using/building which needs an
SAP Gateway server to provide sample data.

Also, as an optional chapter, the creation of a destination to
the Northwind OData service is explained in this document.

SAP HANA CLOUD PLATFORM TRIAL ACCOUNT

course and for all exercises.

If you dont already have an


account setup with single sign-on,
you will be presented with the
following screen, in which you can
choose to register for your free
account. Click Register.

3.

Fill in the Registration form.


Make sure to provide a real and
accessible email account that will
be used to activate the account
later.
Scroll down to the bottom of the
Terms and Conditions, select the
checkboxes, and continue with the
registration by pressing the button
Register.

The activation email will be sent to


the provided email address.

5.

Check your mailbox to receive and


to open the activation email.
Click on the button Click here to
activate your account to finish the
registration.
Once the account is activated, you
will get another email with several
useful links for additional resources
on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.

If you are unable to find the registration
email in your inbox, make sure to check
your junk/spam folder as well.

Once you have clicked the


activation button, you will get a
success message. Click on
Continue to proceed to the SAP
HANA Cloud Platform Cockpit.

Close it to access the SAP HANA
Cloud Platform Cockpit.

ACCESS SAP WEB IDE FROM YOUR SAP HANA CLOUD PLATFORM
ACCOUNT COCKPIT
Explanation

Login to your SAP HANA Cloud


Platform account in which you
created the destination to the SAP
Gateway Service Consumption
System (for example, access it via
https://account.hanatrial.ondemand
.com/cockpit).

Navigate to Services and make


sure the SAP Web IDE service is
enabled.
If it is not enabled, click the tile and
enable it.

9.

Click the SAP Web IDE tile and


and click Open SAP Web IDE.
This is your starting point for the
development environment.
The SAP Web IDE URL should
look like the following:

check the User Information and
select the checkbox under Terms
and Conditions.
Choose Register to continue.

You will get a success message.


An email with a temporary
password for the system will be
sent to you.

to open the activation email for the
SAP Gateway Demo Consumtion
System.
The email contains your user ID
and an initial password for the ES4
SAP Gateway system.

email and choose Log On.

initial password to a personalized
password.
Provide the initial password and
set a new password.
Click Change to continue

Choose Continue to finish the
password setup process for the
ES4 SAP Gateway system.

The ES4 SAP Gateway Demo


Consumption System start
screen opens.
10. You have successfully created
your access to the ES4 SAP
Gateway Demo Consumption
System. You can close this
browser window and proceed with
the next chapter.

Note
You have managed to get access to the
system from where you fetch data for
the app creation. As a next step, you
need to create a new destination to this
demo system in the HCP cockpit.

Create a New Destination to the SAP Gateway Demo Consumption System


(ES4)

1.

Access the SAP HANA Cloud


Platform Cockpit via this link:

On the left bar menu, click


Destinations and then choose
New Destination.

In the Destination Configuration


section below, fill out the following
entries.

Note
Optionally, you can set your user name
and password. If you dont fill out User
and Password, you will be asked for
your ES4 SAP Gateway system
credentials every time you start your
self-developed app and request
backend data.

5.2

Optional: Create a New Destination to a Public OData Provider

The Northwind Traders sample database contains the sales data for a fictitious company called
Northwind Traders, which imports and exports specialty foods from around the world.
The Northwind sample database comes with certain versions of Microsoft SQL Server. It is
also available as a set of public services at http://www.odata.org.
The Northwind public OData service, like many other OData services, can be used as a data
source when creating SAP Fiori and other SAPUI5 applications.
Note
This service might be an optional data source for your further app development. It is
not mandatory for the exercises to come.

In the pop-up, confirm the SAP


Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition Terms
of Use by choosing the button I
agree.

The launchpad for the SAP Fiori,


Demo Cloud Edition is displayed.
As a demo user, you can already
explore existing SAP Fiori apps.

5.

To create a personalized account


that enables yout to deploy an SAP
Fiori app to a launchpad, click on
the button Customize and extend
from the top menu.

6.

On the Customize and Extend


SAP Fiori in the Cloud screen,
click on the button Get Started!

7.

A log on screen for the SAP Fiori,


Demo Cloud Edition is displayed.

8.

Now, provide your SAP HANA


Cloud Platform credentials and
click the button Log On.

account data and create an account on

Your Account for SAP Fiori,
Demo Cloud Edition, you can
check your credentials.

10. Scroll down to the bottom of the


Terms and Conditions, select the
checkboxes, and continue with the
registration by pressing the button
Register.

11. After logging on, your personal


SAP Fiori, Demo Cloud Edition
launchpad is displayed.
Confirm the pop-up Whats New
by clicking the button OK.

button Extend SAP Content from
the top menu.
From the dropdown, you can
choose and proceed as desired
(e.g. start theme customization of
