RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

LiveBinders is a digital 3-ring binder that allows students to virtually put anything into, whether it is a PDF,
webpage, document, video or image. All of this information that LiveBinders collects is able to be organized
by tabs, and even sub-tabs within those tabs. It is a collaborative tool, where students can browse through
others shared binders.

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?

First off, I think that this resource would be helpful in making a massive, semester or year-long portfolio
project, where students keep all their critical writing essays from the entire class. I have also always wanted
to do creative writing projects in my future English classes, so LiveBinders would be a great place not only to
keep all the short stories written over the year, but also revisions of those stories, influences that inspired the
student in writing (like if a student wanted to include a clip or passage of The Lord of the Ring to give a
frame of reference for his own story), outlines, hand-drawn or professional images, audio flies of narration
and my own teacher comments/suggestions.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I think that I would give this lesson a 2 on the scale. This valuable tool not only for following content
standards and enhancing a lesson, but it is a resource that allows students to combine all of their documents
to increase efficiency, production, class time and organization. There hardly has to be any handouts or
massive stapled documents as long as the students all have access to a laptop or a tablet. This way too, it will
be much easier for a student to keep track of their work and see visible improvements throughout the year.
The whole entire writing process, from pre-write to research to outline to rough draft to revision to final
copy, will be more accessible by being collected in a single file space as a small part of a students entire
portfolio. All of a students work for an entire year of AP English can be stored and accessed through an app;
no notebooks, loose papers, lost assignments, missing rubrics required!
