...and Jesus wept.

How saddened Jesus must have felt when he arrived in Jerusalem as the prophesied savior
only to find a small few there to greet him. He spoke these words to the city, Your enemies will
surround you and will totally destroy this city and the people who live within it because you did
now know when I would arrive. (Luke 19:43-44, 21:20, Jer. 6:6) Jesus arrival as the Messiah
was heralded by the prophets (Dan. 9:25, Zech. 9:9) and yet most people did not receive him.

Does Jesus want us to be like those people? We are told You know very well that the
day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night, but you brothers, are not in darkness that
that day should come upon you as a thief. (1Thes. 5:2,5) If we dont take these words to heart,
Jesus warns us of the consequences. If you choose not to watch, I will come to you as a thief
and you will not know when I come. (Rev. 3:3) Jesus told his disciples (and us) You can tell
what the weather will be like by looking at the sky, but you can not see the signs of the times.
You are hypocrites. (Matt. 16:3, Luke 12:56)

Since the beginning of recorded history, God has told the people what would happen
before it did. (Isa. 42:9, Amos 3:7) His word has been left with us so that if we take the time to
read it we can know what will happen before it does. The prophets of old read the scriptures and
were given an understanding. (Dan. 9:2)

Even with all the evidence, will people listen when they are foretold of coming events?
The Bible tells us that it wil be the same situation as when Noah and his family were spared the
destruction of the flood. (Matt. 24:37-39, Luke 17:6) Only a small few were left alive even
though many more saw the signs.

So what must we do to prevent ourselves from remaining blind to the truth? Jesus
promised to return for his people. (John 14:3, 28) Many Bible scholars tell us that he may return
any day. The Bible tells us that this is not so! Let no one deceive you by any means...his return
will not come until there is a falling away of Christians from the truth and the Antichrist be
revealed. (2Thes. 2:3) It is likely that this man will be revealed soon since we are told that
many antichrists will arise (Hitler, Khomeini, Bin Laden, etc.) showing us that the return is near.
(1John 2:18) The Antichrist will not be a man of war and bloodshed. He will magnify himself
in his heart and with peace will corrupt many from the truth. (Dan. 8:25) Modern day
televangelism and missionaries will help fulfill the promise And this gospel will be taught in all
the world and then the end will come. (Matt. 24:14, Mark 13:10)

A soon coming signpost, foretold to open the eyes of some, is the second gathering of the
Israelites into the land promised to their fathers and the confirming of that promise. (Isa. 11:11,
Jer. 16:15, Ezek. 36:28, Joel 3:1)(Dan. 9:27) The borders of this land are in Ezekiel 47. Why is
it important to know all this? I have told you before it happens that when you see it happen you
might believe. (John 13:19, 14:29) There are those so hardened in their heart that it will take
seeing these things happen to have them believe. Everything you have just read has been
confirmed at least twice in the Bible because In the mouth of two or three witnesses every word
will be established (confirmed). (2Cor. 13:1, Matt. 18:16)

To be ready for his return we must study the Bible (Matt. 22:29, Mark 12:24, 2Tim. 2:15)
(John 5:9, Acts 17:11), watch for the signs (Matt. 24:42, Luke 12:37, Rev. 16:15), and pray to the
Lord to show us the truth (Isa. 28:9, Matt. 7:7, James 1:5). MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - If
YOU have NOT accepted JESUS CHRIST as YOUR savior, DO IT NOW! (Rom. 10:9-13, Luke
12:8) THE LORD DRAWS NEAR!
