COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY LESSON PLAN

LESSON TITLE

File Management
STANDARDS & OBJECTIVES COVERED

Objective 3: Explore and demonstrate understanding of managing operating


systems (RST 9-12.3).
1. Select and/or use the following effectively and productively: windows, folders, files
and shortcuts; install, uninstall and run various applications; solve common problems.
CONTENT AND LANGUAGE OBJECTIVES

SWBAT: Create class folder on their student drives, create subfolders, embed
files, & know understand what the file address means.
OUTLINE FOR LESSON
1. Anticipatory Set: Have labeled manila folders hanging around the room. Have
various papers and other folders within the folders. Ask the students to help you find a
particular document. Make sure that it is difficult -- may even have the document you are
looking for on the teachers desk instead of in a folder.
2. Introduce students file management by explaining how it would have been easier to
find the missing document if everything would have been organized in a filing cabinet,
etc.
3. Show the YouTube videos to show tips on how to use folders/files in Windows. (Videos
can also be used for a Flipped classroom or make-up work.)
4. Demonstrate how to find the student network folder.
5. Give the students the File Management for Computer Technology - Tutorial to
complete during class (5-10 mins).
RESOURCES NEEDED (files, Microsoft IT Academy, YouTube videos, Internet
resources, etc.)
