Current GPA: currently low due to taking failing a semester and dropping out due to a mental
illness

At Lewis they allow you to teach student teach anywhere. My personal goal
is to student teach at a school in the suburbs of Chicago.

I will have to take the states certification which in Illinois is Praxis Test.
2. In your own words describe the edTPA process. What will you be required to do to complete
this portion of your license requirement? How are you assessed and what can you do if you are
unsuccessful the first time?
It is a performance based and subject specific assessment that measures
and supports the skills of the teacher from Day 1 in the classroom. I will be

require to make a portfolio and submit videos of me teaching in the

classroom.

3. How do you apply for licensure? (Be specific)

To become an elementary teacher in Illinois you must earn certification
through the state's Board of Education. You need to complete an elementary
teaching program as well as a student teaching assignment of 12 to 16
weeks. You must also pass the state's teacher exams on basic skills and
teaching standards. You can apply to be a teacher online through your
school.
