Task 1

The document provides guidelines for Practicum 4 observation task 1 on differentiating centers in an early childhood classroom. Students are instructed to photograph and document centers-based activities in their setting and identify the learning outcomes and how they are differentiated for different ability levels (mastery, developing, emerging). Examples are provided of how to document observations of a reading area and math area center, describing the resources, international learning outcomes, and differentiated tasks and goals for different ability levels. Reflection questions ask students about the purpose of learning centers, the roles of students and teachers during centers, and the importance of offering developmentally appropriate tasks to meet all ability levels.
