Aim
PREPARATION.
Theory/Drawing
Use a ladder diagram to write a PLC program for a conveyor belt.
Study the exercise on page 2 and the relay plan on page 4.
Print the drawing on page 3 and lay this on the practical model.
Additional teaching material
Not applicable.
Equipment required
PLC with minimum of 8 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs.
Tools required
PC or laptop with software Siemens Step 7 Lite.
EXECUTION.
Order of work
Give the program a name of your own choosing and save this on
your computer, CD-ROM, disk or memory stick.

FINISHING.
Check
Translate the plan on page 4 into a PLC program that satisfies
the description given on page 2.
Load the program into the PLC.
Test the program.

Description
A conveyor belt is driven by an electric motor. The conveyor belt only
has to run upwards. The motor is controlled by two buttons: Start and
Stop.

a) The motor must run when the start button is pressed and keep
on running when the button is released.
b) When the stop button is pressed, the motor must stop running.
c) The motor must stop if both buttons are pressed at the same
time.
