catalog is divided into three sections: Section 1: Application Guide Chart; Section 2: Application Data; and
Section 3: Product Data. First, using Section 1 : Application Guide Chart (below), classify the street or area to
be lighted. Then, turn to the page designated in Section
2: Application Data for the best recommendations to
do your job. These recommendations are picked from
many possibilities among the full line of systems. The
choices are based on two criteria: (1) customer preference as measured by purchases; and (2) best lighting
job for lowest over-all cost, including installation, operation, and maintenance of the system.
After you have selected the recommendations for
your job, proceed with the third step. Turn to Section 3:
Product Data for complete product description and
ordering information covering the recommended equipment. Order by catalog number. Prices are included in
supplementary bulletin, GEA-7101.

streets in suburban developments. These individuals or groups
of individuals want the protection from vandals, criminals,
and pranksters and the added beauty that lighting can provide. Farm users also enjoy the added work hours and protection for livestock that lighting after dark gives. Generally,

Both series and multiple circuits are used in street and highway lighting today with an increasing trend to."'rard the use ol

dawn.
Mercury luminaires may be used with either integral ballasts or separate ballasts mounted in the pole transformer

Which method oJ mounting the luminaires Vou select generally depends on two things:
the appearance, based on indiuidual preference and where the lighting is to be used; and
the ouer-all economics of initial pole cost, installation and maintenance.
On trafic and business streets, shopping centers, parhing lots, highways and many
residential streets (where bach-of-lot power distribution is used), aluminum, steel or
concrete poles should be carefullg considered.
