THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HARD & SOFT LANDSCAPING

Hard Landscaping refers to things such as walls, paths, pergolas, rock work,
concrete pond construction, etc. Soft Landscaping involves the lawns and
plants.
Operational Plan/Strategy:
Stages of Garden Design Process
________________ offers a complete Garden Design, Construction and aftercare
service in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area. We offer this service for
clients wishing to making the most of their outdoor space and to those
planning to revitalise an existing plot. So whether you've purchased a new
house with a blank canvas, or own a more mature garden that needs
redesigning to reflect the way we use our gardens today, then contact us to
discuss your requirements.
There are two options: A free advice service where general ideas are given,
or a full design service as detailed below:
Stage 1 - Initial site visit

This meeting is Free within our normal area of operations.
We will discuss your requirements and carry out a brief survey.
Stage 2 - Outline Proposal

Initial ideas of the garden overview. If you wish to go ahead with a full design
service a second site visit will be made with detailed measurements and full
survey. This normally takes 1-2 hours depending on the complexity of the
design.
Stage 3 - Design Process

We will prepare a scaled design of your garden. Photographic and actual
samples of the materials to be used are submitted. Any amendments to the
design can be carried out at this stage and are included in the cost of the
design.
The cost of the design will be advised soon after the initial site visit and
before any design work is carried out. As a guide, the design fee will be
approximately 10-15% of the project price, depending on the complexity of
the design. We offer a discount on the design cost if we are awarded the
build contract.
Stage 4 - Design Construction
We can supply you with a full written quotation for the construction of your
garden, together with detailed specifications of materials used. Whilst we
would naturally be delighted to build your garden for you, you can source
your own contractors if you wish. However, do consider the fact that certain
specifications within the plan may not be fulfilled if outside contractors are
used. This may compromise the design and therefore the finished result.
Stage 5 - Planting the Design

Once the hard landscaping is complete, the finishing - and arguably, the
most important - stage is to implement the planting plans and siting garden
sculptures and furniture, where applicable. We source our plants and trees
from reputable, award winning, suppliers and are therefore guaranteed.
Aftercare notes will be provided on all plants both in "brochure" form and
electronically for your convenience.
