TutorialCreatingaOneline

Thistutorialdescribesthebasicstepstocreateaoneline.Formoredetailedinstructions,referto"MakingOneLine
Diagrams"inHelp.
AfterstartingEasyPower,clickFile>New>NewOnelinetoopenablankonelinediagraminthesessionwindow.
Tip:IfyouareviewingtheStartPage,youcanclickNewtoopenablankoneline.
TheEasyPowersessionwindowdisplaystheEasyPowerprogramoptions.Theinnerareaofthewindowdisplaysadditional
windowssuchastheStartPage,onelines,orthedevicelibrary.Youcanhaveoneormultiplewindowsopenintheinner
area.Clickthe

Maximizebuttonontheupperrightcornerofthesessionwindowtomakethewindowillyourscreen.

AddingBusestotheOneline
Thecentralequipmenttypeofeveryonelineisthebus.Abusdeinestheconnectionpointfortwoormorepiecesof
equipment.Equipmentitemswhicharenotyetconnectedtoabusarehighlightedinred.
Toaddabustotheoneline,click
BusintheEquipmentPaletteorInserttab.Thepointerchangestotheshapeofa
busasyoumovebacktotheoneline.Clickonthelocationwhereyouwanttopositionthebus.Youcancontinueadding
busesinthiswayuntilyouclickonanotherpalettebutton.
Placebusesinthedrawingasshownbelowbyclickingtheleftmousebuttonanddraggingeachbustotheoneline.
Tip:YoucansetadefaultbasekVfornewbusesbyselectingTools>Equipment>Bus.

AdjustingBusSizesandLocations
Withthepointersetasaselectionarrow,youcanmoveandsizethebuses.YoumovebusesorIDnamesbydraggingthem
withtheleftmousebutton.
Whenyoubringthepointerclosetoabus,afourheadedarrow

appears.Leftclickanddragtomovethebus.

Whenyoumovethepointerclosetotheeitherendofthebus,adoubleheadedarrowappears.Changethesizeofa
busbydraggingeitherendofitwiththeleftmousebutton.Youcanevenshrinkittoasingledotornodesothatit
takesuplessroom.
Afterexperimentingwithmovingandsizingthebuses,arrangethemasshownbelow.

EnteringBuskVData
Whenyouaddabustotheoneline,youmustprovidethekVofthatbusbeforeyoucanattachanythingtoit.Youcaneither
setadefaultkVaheadoftime(beforeaddingthebustotheoneline)byclickingTools>Equipment>Busandspecifying

thebasekV,oryoucansetitafterwardbydoubleclickingonthebustobringupitsdatadialogbox.
Enterthebusdatabydoubleclickingoneachofthebussymbolswiththeselectpointer .TheBusDatadialogboxis
displayedeachtimeandyoucanenterthebasekVforthebusandthenclickOKtosavethechange.Use13.8kVforthetop
busand0.48kVfortheothers.YoucanalsochangetheIDnamestomakethemmoredescriptive.

CopyandPaste
Tosavetimewhenenteringsimilarequipmentitems,youcancopyandpastetheequipmentdata.Todothis:
1.Usethepointer toselecttheequipmentitemwiththathastheinformationyouwanttocopy.Theitemturnsgreen
toindicatethatitisselected.
2.Click

Copy.

3.Selectadifferentitem(orgroupofitems).Youcandragaselectionboxaroundagroupofitemstoselectmultiple
items.Don'tworryifyouincludeothertypesofequipmentinyourselectionareaonlytheinformationforsimilar
equipmentgetscopied.
4.Click

Paste.Notethattheinformationfromtheirstitemiscopiedtotheselectedequipmentitems.

AddingaTransformer
1.Click TwoWindingTransformerontheEquipmentPaletteorInserttabthepointerchangestoatwo
windingtransformersymbol.
2.Placethetransformerbypositioningthetransformerpointer'stopleaderonthetopbusandclickingonce.The
transformerautomaticallyattachestothebus,andthetophalfofthesymbolturnsblack.Ifyoumiss(the
transformerdoesn'tconnectandremainsred),switchbacktotheselectpointer
intoposition.

3.Withtheselectpointer active,usetheleftmousebuttontodragthetransformer'sremainingleadertothemiddle
bus(seeigureabove).Thetransformerstaysreduntilitisconnected.Afteritconnects,youcandragthetransformer
symbolupsoitiscenteredbetweenthetwobuses,ifneeded.
4.Doubleclickonthetransformertoenterthetransformerdata.Importantentriesarenotedwitharedexclamation
mark.Youcanstillsavethedatawithoutthoseentriesbeingmade,butwillnotbeabletoperformanalysisuntilthe
entriesarecomplete.UsetheCalculatebuttonstohaveEasyPowercalculatevaluesforyou.ClickOKwheninished.

AddingCables
1.Click CableontheEquipmentPalettethepointerchangesintoacrosshair.Putthecrosshaironthemiddlebus
andclicktheleftmousebutton(butdon'treleaseityet).Thissetsoneendoftheline.Nowdragthecrosshairtothe

leftbottombus(asshownintheigurebelow)andreleasethemousebutton.Thisplacesthecable.

2.Repeatthisfortheothercables.Notethatyoucanmovethecablesbydraggingthemwiththeselectpointer.
3.Doubleclickonthecablestoentercabledata.

AddingMotors
1.Click

MotorontheEquipmentPalettethepointerchangesintoamotorsymbol.

2.Placetheirstmotorbypositioningthemotorpointer'sleaderonthebottomleftbusandclicking.Themotor
automaticallyattachestothebus,andthesymbolturnsblack.Ifyoumiss(themotordoesn'tconnectandturnsred),
dragthesymbolintopositionafterpressingthebutton.
3.Continuebyattachingasecondmotortothebus.
4.Doubleclickoneachofthemotorstoentermotordata.
Tip:Youcancopydatafromonemotortoanotherbyusingthecopyandpastefunctions,asdescribedinCopyand
Paste.

AddingaUtility
1.Click

UtilityontheEquipmentPalettethepointerchangesintoautilitysymbol.

2.Placetheutilitybypositioningtheutilitypointer'sleaderonthetopbusandclicking.
3.Withtheselectpointer

,doubleclickontheutilitytoenterutilitydata.

AddingFeederBreakers
1.Click LVBreakerontheEquipmentPaletteorInserttabthepointerchangesintoalowvoltagebreaker
symbol.
2.Positionthebreakerpointerdirectlyoverafeederline(suchasacableortransformer)andclicktheleftmouse
button(seeigurebelow).Thebreakerisinsertedintotheline.

3. Ifyoumiss(thebreakerdoesn'tinsertintothelineandremainsred),dragthebreakertothefeederlineandrelease
themousebuttonsothatthebreakerisconnectedtothefeeder.
4. Placelowvoltagebreakersonthefeederlinesbetweentheequipmentitems.
5. Withtheselectpointer,doubleclickonthebreakerstoenterbreakerdata.

ViewingtheEntireOneline
OntheHometab,click

ZoomOutFulltocenteryourentireonelineonyourscreen.
