Observation task 4: Planning and preparation for learning

Focus: The importance of planning and preparation


Objective
The objective of this task is for student teachers to begin to understand the relevance of
planning and preparation as well as gain insight into how teachers do this.

Before the observation


Discuss the task with the teacher and arrange a good time to observe her teaching. (this
could be for as little as 15 min)
During the observation, record and make notes on what the teacher and the learners are
doing.

children follow her orders. Each
corner has a specific amount of
necklaces so whoever goes first, can
go in.

Most of student follows the rules.


However, some minority of the children
doesnt follow the rules and go on
already-full corners. Furthermore, some
student dont go to any corner and stay
walking around between the corners.

questions as they will help you with your reflection later.

Yes, sometimes If I feel that the situation requires it. For example, if the children didnt
understand something I do an activity to make it simple.

What is important to you when planning a lesson?


The important thing for me is to make sure that I will include all the teaching goal.
The time I will take for each activity.
The question the children might ask me.

Do you plan to do the same thing with all the children in the classroom?

Yes, however, there are some children I have to put more focus on them.
