The document outlines the proper procedure and safety precautions for welding carbon steel plates in flat position using 6013 electrode. It details preparing materials, setting up equipment, welding technique, inspection, and cleanup.

The steps include wearing proper PPE, preparing the work area and materials, setting the welding machine, applying welding parameters, welding the plates, turning off the machine, cleaning slag, and returning tools and equipment.

It's important to be physically and mentally relaxed during welding as tension can affect quality. Following welding parameters can minimize defects, and body position largely impacts quality so finding a comfortable stance is best.

before entering the practical work area.
2. Check the practical work area if it is safe for working.
3. Check all the tools and equipment if its functional.
4. Prepare the tools, equipment and materials needed for the activity.
5. Prepare the carbon steel plate through cleaning by steel brush.
6. Set up the welding machine and set the correct amperage.
7. Apply the parameters/essentials of welding.
8. Weld carbon steel plate in flat position using electrode 6013 within
the required standard.
9. Turn off the machine before checking the finished work.
10. Clean the slags on the weldment.
11. Use pliers in holding the workpiece.
12. Present your work to your trainer.

13. Put back the tools and equipment in proper places after using.
Tips, Notes, and Variations
See to it that you are physically and mentally relax during
welding because it can affect the quality and appearance of the
weldment.
Considering the essentials of welding can minimize weld defects.
Body position can largely affects the quality of weldment. It is
always better to position yourself comfortably.
