The document discusses Processing Control Tables (PCTs) in VisionPlus, which define processing and fee details for credit accounts. PCTs can be established for any credit product, not just by state/country as the manual suggests. The PCT points to Account Control, Insurance, Interest, and Fee Control tables. Values in these tables can be overridden in different places within the system. The document encourages readers to fully understand PCT setup to take advantage of its flexibility.

Back to Basics:
VisionPlus Parameters and Processing Control
Hello, Chris Paul, President of ProCard here, bringing you the latest
instalment in our series of Knowledge Bank tips for VisionPlus developers
and managers. As the dark days of winter set in up here in the Northern
Hemisphere and the cold climate of recession and economic unease
continue to bite, were all looking for ways to economise, consolidate and
make the most of existing resources on increasingly tight IT budgets. Its a
good time to strengthen and update your core skills and get back to
basics, beginning with the subject of the Processing Control Table, (PCT).
The PCT lies at the heart of the VisionPlus Credit Management System (CMS)
and lays the foundations of every single individual card account at the time it
is set up. Every account on the VisionPlus system has its processing and fee
details defined by a PCT which is applied during origination. According to the
VisionPlus manual you should establish a Processing Control Table for each state, country or
province. This is true, but in fact PCTs are much more powerful and versatile than this, and can be
established to define any kind of credit product that you want.
In point of fact, the State/Country/Province structure suggested in the manual dates back to the
early days of VisionPlus, which of course originated in the USA. When the system was first
created, it was designed to operate in the USA, where Paysys are based. Since that time the use of
credit processing systems has grown exponentially, and the VisionPlus system is now in use all
over the world, so alternative PCT structures may now be more appropriate. For example, the
green CMS screens for the account (ARMB03) still say residence id and issuance id, but the fields
are there to hold the PCT that applies to the account and need not have anything to do with
where the customer is situated.
Todays tip concerns the Processing Control Table itself
and, more importantly, where it can be overridden

The PCT points to a number of

different tables within the system,
these are:

Account Control
Insurance
Interest
Fee Control

Back to Basics:
VisionPlus Parameters and Processing Control
and ARMF01 to maintain it
This screen can display up to a
maximum of three Processing
Control Tables. If more Processing
Control Tables have been established at
this processing control level, you will
need to use the PF function keys to
display them.
Of course, VisionPlus, being the
complex system that it is, allows you to
override some of these values
elsewhere in the system, so you need
to be sure that the appropriate
tables are definitely being used.
The PCT can be overridden for a period by the PCT placed in the Pricing Control field on the
same screen as Residence ID and Issuance ID (ARMB03). It can also be overridden at a different
level to the others by completing the level override field.
The Account Control Table can be overridden where there is a relationship record in
existence check ARGM01. The value in this field will override the Account Control Table for the
individual accounts in the relationship, though only if you can have consolidated payments for
the relationship.
The Insurance Table can be overridden where a different PCT value is placed into the Enrolment ID field on the insurance screen ARDM02. The Insurance Table for this PCT is used instead
of the Insurance Table associated with the PCT on the account screen.
Interest Table overrides (ITOs ~ set on screen ARMA05) are commonly used to provide such
things as interest free periods. The ITO points to an interest table that will override the tables on
the PCT during the period up to the ITO expiry date. The ITO applied can however be affected
by delinquency, and automatically set to be removed under certain conditions. CMS
physically clears the value in the ITO field after it expires.
Make sure you are fully up to speed with PCT setup so you can use all its potential to full
advantage. The next in the series of Back to Basic tips on VisionPlus will look at another
component of the parameter control system related to the PCT, the Account Table. Watch this
space and keep reading the Knowledge Bank to learn more.
