Dear Aditya,

can you give me your email id.

Here is the response to your querry.
1)Use of PLASTIC command as per IS 13920 in STAAD
In limit state method of design we considered steel stress as 0.87fy.But as we
know ,when steel is strained beyond the yield point, more and more stress is
required to produce additional plastic deformation .This is termed as "Strain
Hardeneing".Due to strain hardening steel can take stress upto 1.25fy.
Now shear force calculation as per Is13920 is ,
Vu=Va(Due to Dl+L)+/-1.4(Mulim+Mulim/L)
1.4 comes from 1.25/0.87=1.436 or 1.4
If "PLASTIC "command is used in staad, program will calculate shear
considering plastic moment.
ie,PLASTIC should be entered as 1.
Else if default value of PLASTIC ,ie,0 is selected, then program will calculate
shear based on elastic moment,ie,1.4 multiplying factor will not be used.
This will get reflected in the output. You can see it

2) As per STAAD
IPLM
Default value calculates elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam at its ends.
1.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be ignored at start node of beam. This implies no
support exists at start node.
-1.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be considered at start node of beam. . This implies
support exists at start node.
2.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be ignored at end node of beam. This implies no

support exists at end node.

-2.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be considered at end node of beam. . This implies
support exists at end node.
IMB

0.0
Default value calculates elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam at its ends.
1.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be ignored at both ends of beam. This implies no
support exist at either end of the member.
-1.0 = calculation of elastic/plastic hogging and sagging moments of
resistance of beam to be considered at both ends of beam. This implies
support exist at both ends of the member.
*****************************************
I feel this command can be used for secondary beams for which we don't do
the ductile detailing. We cannot use both code"IS456" to design secondary
beam and use"IS 13920" to design structural frame" in one model. Hence
select the code IS 13920 to design the frame beam. Use IMB and IPLM for
secondary beam to avoid design of special confining reinforcement at the
support of secondary beam.
