SCHEME & SYLLABUS FOR DEPUTY RANGER/ FORESTER


RECRUITMENT 2015 (DRF 15)
For recruitment to the post of Deputy Ranger / Forester, the following Scheme and
Syllabus is fixed by the Commission:I.

Name of the post : Deputy Ranger / Forester

A.

Scheme of Recruitment:(i)

Candidates shall have to appear at a Written Examination of 150 marks


(Part I: 120 Marks and Part II: 30 Marks), to be held on 6th March,
2016. Duration of the written examination will be 90 minutes.

(ii)

Part I will consist of Multiple Choice Objective Type Questions. There


will be 120 questions, carrying 1 mark each. There will be negative
marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer.

(iii)

Part II will consist of a single descriptive type question (writing of a


Prcis from a given English passage).

NOTE I: Candidates have to mark answers in respect of Multiple Choice Objective Type
Questions of Part - I in one side of OMR Answer Script, whereas they must have to write the
descriptive question pertaining to Part - II on the reverse side of the OMR in the space
allocated for that purpose.
(iv)

Answer scripts of Part II will be evaluated only for those candidates,


who will be shortlisted, Category - wise, by the Commission on the basis
of marks obtained by them in Part - I and Category wise number of
vacancies .

(v)

Final merit list for written examination will be prepared by aggregating


marks of Part - I and Part II.

NOTE II: Candidates must secure qualifying marks fixed by the Commission in the
Part - II in order to be considered for next stages of recruitment, i.e. Physical Efficiency
Test, Physical Measurement Test and Personality Test.
NOTE III: Qualifying marks fixed for Part - II will be as the following: For Unreserved Candidates / BC A / BC B Category: 10Marks
For Candidates belonging to SC Category: 7 Marks
For Candidates belonging to ST Category: 5 Marks

The candidates shortlisted on the basis of marks obtained in the written


examination will be called for a Physical Efficiency Test:

Physical Efficiency Test: A Short listed Candidate shall be required to


undergo a Walking Test as follows:

Note: There will be no mark in the walking Test but the candidate must qualify the walking
Test in order to go to the next stage of recruitment.

(vii)

Candidates qualified in the Physical Efficiency Test shall only be called for
Document Verification (DV), Physical Measurement Test and Personality
Test to be held in a single day.

(viii)

Candidates qualified in the Physical Measurement Test shall only be allowed


to appear in the Personality Test. There will be 15 marks in the Personality
Test.

(ix)

Procedure for Final Selection: Candidates who shall satisfy / qualify all the
conditions of eligibility as mentioned in the detailed advertisement being no.
05 / WBSSC / Exam, dated, 06.11.2015 shall only be considered for final
selection on aggregating the marks obtained in the Written Examination
(Part I plus Part II) and Personality Test.
Commission may fix qualifying marks for written examination as well as for
Interview from time to time and the final merit list shall be prepared on the
basis of total marks obtained in the Written Examination and Personality Test
(i.e. out of total marks 165).

(x)

Special Note : Physical fitness:

The candidates must have sound hearing faculty, eye sight and general fitness for
undertaking arduous outdoor work in the Forest Directorate.
In the case of defective vision, it must be corrected to at least 6/9 in the better eye and
6/12 in the other eye but the candidate must not suffer from colour blindness or congenital or
other diseases of the eye.
The chief Medical Officer of Health or the Presidency Surgeon will test the Physical
fitness of the nominated candidates.
