4. A 200 MVA, 11kV, 50Hz, 4 pole turbo generator has an inertia constant of 6 MJ/MVA
a. Find the stored energy in the rotor at synchronous speed
b. The machine is operating at a load of 120MW, when the load suddenly increased to
160MW , find the rotor retardation. Neglect losses.
c. The retardation calculated above is maintained for 5 cycles. Find the change in
power angle and rotor speed in rpm at the end of this period.
5. A 2 pole 50Hz, 11kV turbo generator has a rating of 60 MW with 0.85 pf lagging. Its rotor
has a moment of inertia of 8800kg-m2 . Find its inertia constat in MJ/MVA and momentum

6. A 4 pole 50Hz, turbo alternator is rated at 45MW, 0.8pf lagging and has an inertia of
25000kg-m2. It is connected through a line to another set whose corresponding data is 2
poles 60MW, 50 Hz, 0.75 pf, 9000 kg-m2. Find inertia constant of each machine on its own
rating and that of single equivalent machine connected to infinite bus at a base of 100MVA.
