Hope yew hev awl remembered ter put your clocks back. Some of us will now be able

Fust we must say well dun ter Chrissie and her helpers fer dewing sew well with the
Coffee Morning agin. Also ter Mel and her gang fer putting on the posh Ball (dint know
there wus sew many rich people in Massingham!). The total raised fer Macmillan from
the two events wus around 11000 amazing!
Did yew manage ter see any of the Cycle Race? We dint hear whether Bruce got cort up
in it this year but they did go past his front door to call fer him. Shame it wus raining
hard part of the toime but hopefully no accidents.
Blast were just hed a busy week! Fust there wus the Parish Council meeting talking
abowt bloody ducks agin! Youd think the Dabbling Duckd hev them on the menu awl
the toime soon git the population down.
Weve both joined the handbell ringers. Noice ter see Pat there she dun very well fer a
virgin (ringer that is!) Mebbe were practising fer Christmas which we hate ter say is
only seven weeks away. After bells we sat in the porch having a chat loike a couple of
teenagers but we wus asked ter move on when Julian came and turned the lights off.
Well be there the same toime next week.
We went ter the pictures and saw Bridget Jones Baby. Harf of Massingham wus there
cant go anywhere these days. Gert forgot she wus in the cinema and at a crucial point
she shouted Yesss. Everyone laughed and we pretended she werent with us. We
dont recognise the films the Massingham Film Club is putting on at the moment maybe theyre gitting them from a different place.
By the toime yew read this yewll hev hed awl them little ghouls round taking awl yer
sweets. Hope they awl behave themselves and dont scare no-one.
Well be going ter Dr Burgess retirement party. Think well tek a list of our ailments as
we hevnt bin able to git an appointment with him fer months. Wishing him awl the best
fer his retirement and travel plans.
Hope yew hev got yer tickets fer Bickertons latest offering Matters Arising. Gert
has a starring role! Daisy will review that next toime.
Daisys little grandorter Lillie wus a year old at the end of October that dont seem five
minutes since awl that worry last year when she wus born early and tiny. Shes now a
beautiful, thriving, happy little girl.
Well, thas awl fer now were gitting ready fer half-term. We shud really organise our
holidays to coincide with the school holidays shont we?
Dew yew keep atroshing, Gert and Daisy.

Parish Council Report October meeting
Nine councillors attended the meeting. Also
present was the Clerk, Tim Tilbrook (Borough
Councillor) and six parishioners.
Mr. John Lefever, Regional Head of Development for Hastoe Housing Association,
had previously advised the Parish Council
that he had been contacted by a local landowner to consider the possibility of building
a small number of houses on his land. He
had asked if these could be delivered as a
rural exception site so that the properties
could be let to local people. It was mentioned that the parish also has one third of
its current site available. The policy is to
identify the best site available to fulfil the
local need and it was stressed that a public
meeting is always held before an application is submitted to the planners.
Details of the Mike Tilbury Award have
been finalised and nomination forms are
available from the shop, the village hall and
in the Mallard.
The Precept requirement will be finalised at
the next meeting but, in the meantime,

Advent, the star t of the new Chur ch Year , when we begin to look for war d
O of Jesus
LL at ARISHIONERS
to the birth
Christmas (ten weeks away as I write) falls in November, towards the end of the calendar year. Endings and new beginnings: our
life consists of these, rolling out across the years. We like to mark such landmark occasions, pivots on which we hang our lives. We aspire to look forward in hope,
although this can sometimes be quite a challenge - when life surprises or overwhelms
us; and politically, due to Brexit, we could not live in more uncertain, uncharted times.
However, the time around Remembrance Sunday (13 th November) is familiar territory,
when we look back at our nations history in respect and gratitude, remembering the
courage of the past and the heroes who have given us the freedoms we continue to be
thankful for to this day. We live in a world of tremendous upheaval and darkness; never
has the inextinguishable light of the Christ-child - and the hope He brings us - been
more needed in our world.
We continue to commemorate the Centenary of the First World War. The Bible Society,
in conjunction with the Royal British Legion, has produced a small collection of psalms,
poetry, prayers and hymns: Hear My Cry, subtitled words for when there are no words.
I quote from the books foreword, words written not by a priest but by a decorated soldier,
General the Lord Dannatt: God does not take sides between countries. However, he is
passionately concerned for the people who live in those countries and get caught up in
war. He made us. He loves us and wants us to love him in return. In peace or war, God
is interested in us as individuals. I echo these words.
This Remembrance-tide let us offer our prayers for our serving military personnel and
their families, for those challenged by life-changing injuries and for those who have lost
their lives in war (including civilians) during the past year: at the going down of the sun
and in the morning we will remember them. We also pray that peace and justice will
prevail in Syria, especially in the city of Aleppo - and all the countries of the Middle East.
Wishing you all a blessed and peaceful Advent, Reverend Judith
Writers Exchange
Are you a writer? Published, unpublished, work in progress or yet to be transferred from
imagination to paper. Are you perhaps, a publisher, an agent or an editor?Would you
welcome mutual support with others involved in creating literature, to bolster confidence
in abilities and aspirations?
There are lots of on line workshops and forums, enabling writers to connect with fellows
worldwide. For some people though, there is nothing like meeting face to face, enabling
dynamic opportunities to exchange ideas, thoughts and opinions to encourage the newcomer to the art and to share triumphs of the practiced, commented Sue VaughanWilliams, a new local writer herself.
Norfolk Creative Arts and Sue are therefore pleased to present a platform to meet other
wordsmiths, and create the opportunity to hear thoughts on what shape future, regular or
occasional, structured or unstructured gatherings might be.
This informal FREE event takes place on Tuesday 8th November, 6.30pm till 8.30pm,
at Norfolk Creative Arts, Church Hill School, 71 Gayton Road, Grimston, PE32 1BG
