(PFD) PRIMARY FLIGHT DYSPLAY

Primary Flight Display (PFD)

The PFD (Primary Flight Display) provides you with the basic information required for flying. The layout is
similar to an "old-style-cockpit", known as the "Basic-T". You will find information about your speed, heading
and altitude. In the middle of the basic-T you can see the attitude indicator.
The upper part of the PFD provides information about the Autopilot and Autothrust system and its modes.
This display part is called FMA (Flight Mode Announciator).

(ND) NAVIGATION DISPLAY

Navigation Display (ND)
The ND (Navigational Display) provides information about your lateral situation. It can show a compass rose
or only an arc of the compass rose depending on which mode you select on the EFIS panel. Available
modes are ILS, VOR, NAV, ARC and PLAN.
On the ND you will also see your lateral flightplan as well as additional points like NDBs, VORs, Airports
and more. This all can be selected as well via the EFIS panel.

Engine/Warning Display (EWD)

The EWD is part of the ECAM (Electronic Centralised Aircraft Monitor) and is mostly the upper screen in
the middle of the cockpit.

Systems Display (SD)

The SD has a lot of different pages so please take a look at the different
screenshots.

Multi Control Display Unit (MCDU)

Our MCDU is like in the real aircraft just an input tool. The inserted data will be commanded into the FMGS.
If somebody has no MCDU-hardware available you can also use our software MCDU and can do the inputs by clicking with the mousebutton.
The size and the position of this display can be adjusted and saved with our iConfig.

Flight Management and Guidance System (FMGS)

Our FMGS consists of two FMGCs (Flight Management and Guidance Computer) each of them with a MCDU. Each FMGC calculates the
flightplan on its own. In normal operation one FMGC is acting as "Master", the other one as "Slave".
Each FMGC gets the required input values from its MCDU and also from other systems like sensors. (e.g. Lat/long, altitude, speed, fuel
quantity and much more).
With all this sensor data and the flightplan entered by the pilot via the MCDU, the FMGC is able to calculate predicitons for altitudes, time
and fuel for all points. The result is displayed on various pages on the MCDU and also on the ND.
The FMGC will also insert "pseudo-waypoints" like "top of climb", "top of descend" or "DECEL"-waypoint. The Master FMGC also
provides data for the autopilot required to control the aircraft in managed modes.
The FMGC also takes care about the tuning of navaids (automatically or manually by the pilot). Due to all those functions the FMGC is
the core item of the A320 avionics system.

FlyByWire (PRO only)

Next to the FMGS is the FlyByWire module which is only available in the PRO package. The FlyByWire translates the sidestick inputs into
control surface deflections. With the sidestick only a roll rate and g-load are commanded.
The FlyByWire also takes care of various protections. This is done by monitoring various flight parameters (e.g. pitch, bank, speed, AoA).
In case parameters are out of the normal range the FlyByWire will enable protections like Alphafloor or TOGA LOCK.
Another example is the pitch and bank limitation. All those protections help to keep the aircraft all the time in a safe envelope.

Overhead Logic
he AST A320 OHL (Overhead Logic) provides logics for several subsystems like electric, hydraulic, fuel, bleed, APU, ADIRS, SECs,
FACs and ELACs. The OHL is also interacting with your hardware overheadpanel via your interface software and FSUIPC.

Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS)

The TCAS (Traffic Alert And Collision Avoidance System) module reads data from Flight Simulator to display traffic on the NDs and on
theinstructor station. The TCAS module also provides traffic advisory and resolution advisory (currently limited in functionality, no mode
reversals) and sends those commands to the NDs and to the PFDs for display purpose.
