Unix Administrator

Requirements:

Work experience: at least 4 years of professional experience;


Very good knowledge of the current Linux / Unix distributions;
Good knowledge of system monitoring and software distribution incl. updates;
Very good knowledge of clustering;
Programming languages: shell programming, Perl, C;

Knowledge of HTML / CGI is a plus;


Very good knowledge of current server technologies;
Very good knowledge of storage technologies and their connection to Unix servers;
Good knowledge of server virtualization VMware ESX, Solaris Zoning, AIX Lpar;
Very good knowledge of network environment (data communication; TCP/IP);
Very good knowledge of the backup/recovery field;
Good knowledge of ITIL processes;
Advanced knowledge of several IT applications, IT systems, IT services or programming
languages beyond their own area of expertise, and of ITIL / Project Management.

Responsibilities:
The following activities must be performed within the limited, assigned area of responsibility:

Ensuring the daily operation through incident troubleshooting, incident management


with the software tool Remedy OSD as Manager on Duty (MOD); the latter coordinates
the Engineers on Duty (EOD) - control of the ticket queues and incident troubleshooting;

Participation in 24x7 operation with the on-call (RBR) Pos.1, coordinating the RBR Pos.2;
Support for root cause analyses and in the case of Problem Management for recurrent
error/incident situations (e.g. technical analysis ...);
Remote installation/assembly/dismantling of the operating system on the server and
configuration documents in the workflow tool AIDA with server hardware from Dell, IBM,
Fujitsu, also on high availability/cluster/blade servers;
Commissioning the server location-specific network connection;
Server software installation to connect various data storage systems NetApp, EMC2;
Commissioning of a location-dependent data backup system depending on the
connected data storage systems;
Installation/configuration of other monitoring and system automation components and
ensuring their proper operation;
Installation of service packs and patches for the operating system tool supported by the
software tools SDC/SCCM and also manually;

Monitoring the server through SCOM and derived incident elimination (troubleshooting)
Support of Windows Server System-based services according to instructions;
Checking the log files of the event logs and, if necessary, the elimination of found errors;

Creation of Changes in coordination with the customer (internal and external) with OM4
and higher, and corresponding documentation in the Change Management database;
ensuring data consistency;
Implementation of Changes, instructions from Operations Manager 2 (OM2) in
implementation;
Elimination of InfoSec vulnerabilities (IPINS) according to instructions;

Implementation of Siemens CERT action plans according to the server type as per
instructions;
Checking and providing administrative access to servers with the software tool SOX DB
according to instructions;
Assessment and proper documentation of collected entries in the software tool
Reporting Database (REP-DB) according to instructions;

Creating and managing Active Directory objects with Atos Tools (NetPro);

Support of OM4 in the processes Hardware Refresh and operating system Refresh, even
with the software tool Platespin;
Assisting in the implementation of customer projects according to instructions;
Support for second and third level support on Data Center Topics.
