8.3 Ceiling Work

Ceiling work was done for both the interior and exterior of the building. There were two types of ceilings used: mineral fiber and asbestos. Mineral fiber ceiling uses an aluminum frame of main and cross tees to create a flat surface. The frame was installed by first fixing wall angles to the walls and then connecting the main and cross tees together using holes and joints. Mineral fiber sheets were then placed on the installed frame. For toilet areas, a timber frame was constructed and fixed to walls before asbestos sheets were screwed in place and joints sealed and painted.

3 CEILING WORK
Ceiling was done for inside area an outside area of the building. There are two type of ceiling
in our site, those are

Mineral fiber ceiling

Asbestos ceiling

The entire ceilings were flat type. Mineral fiber ceiling is very easy to fix,. For inside ceiling
main tees, cross tee and wall angle were use those are made up from Aluminiume.first wall angle
were fixed on the wall, Total length of the main T-bars are 12and wall angles are in same length.
The length of the cross tee is available in 2 and 4 .In cross tee and main tee; there are special
type of holes to fix them each other. Also at end of this tee there is a special part joint them
together
When starting the ceiling the ceiling height must be mark according to the drawing. the main tees
were placed perpendicular to the pralines and next cross tees were fixed perpendicular to the
main tees Here the cross tees must be hanged the purling by using binding wire. Finally Mineral
Fiber sheet were placed on that frame (size 2*2) Photograph of the ceiling is shown in below
For ceiling in toilet area we used timber frame it fixed on the wall, by using 2*2 timber
battens .after frame is completed fixed the asbestoses ceiling sheet by using brass screw nails,
sheet were placed closed together, Then using the joint tape and wall putty cover the all joints of
the ceiling sheet and sanding it. finally it is painted, which is shown as soffite.
