Group 3 Class 11-5 is led by M Dani Daroni and has 4 members: Aditya Heksa Putra, Anida Mauludina, and Yuke Djulianti. Glutaraldehyde is an organic compound with the molecular formula CH2(CH2CHO)2 that is widely used to sterilize medical equipment. It is produced industrially through the oxidation of cyclopentene or the Diels-Alder reaction of acrolein and methyl vinyl ether followed by hydrolysis. Monomeric glutaraldehyde can polymerize through aldol condensation, yielding alpha, beta-unsaturated poly-glutaraldehyde, especially under alkaline conditions.

Glutaraldehyde is an organic compound that belongs to the Aldehyde
functional groups. Glutaraldehyde is an organic compound with the molecular formula CH2(CH2CHO)2. A liquid such as oil color and is widely used to sterilize medical and dental equipment. These compounds are also used for the processing industry-and as chemical preservatives.
Pictured above is the structural formula of glutaraldehyde
- IUPAC name : Pentane-1,5-dial - Other names : Pentanedial, Glutardialdehyde, Glutaric acid dialdehyde, Glutaric aldehyde, Glutaric dialdehyde, 1,5-Pentanedial Glutaraldehyde is produced industrially by the oxidation of cyclopentene and by the Diels-Alder reaction of acrolein and methyl vinyl ether followed by hydrolysis. Like other dialdehydes (e.g., glyoxal), it does not exist as the dialdehyde but as the hydrate. These hydrates adopt several structures.
Monomeric glutaraldehyde can polymerize by aldol condensation reaction yielding
alpha, beta-unsaturated poly-glutaraldehyde. This reaction usually occurs at alkaline pH values.
