Week 2 Tutorial Questions

This document contains 6 questions regarding structural design of plate web girders and steel beams. Question 1 involves determining properties such as centroid, second moments of area, torsion constant, section moduli and yield/plastic moments for a plate girder. Question 2 examines whether the cross-section is compact and calculates design strength. Question 3 repeats this for another plate girder. Question 4 analyzes a welded box section. Questions 5-6 examine whether sections are compact and proportion a steel beam section based on deflection criteria.
