REFLECTION PAPER
GMA TOUR
Last July 26, 2016 we had our tour on GMA network, theres a lot of excitements and expectations when we go
there. First we had some information about GMA network on how they are started and it was discussed by our tour
guide Mr. Lester, he is very accommodating and very kind. He also said the rules and regulations, Dos and Donts to
be aware and observe silently. So the tour was started and we went first to the old building of GMA where we can find
the Barangay LS 97.1 (FM) and DZBB 594 (AM) Radio Stations. When we enter Barangay LS 97.1 (FM) we had a
chance to meet Papa Dudut and he told us his experience and some background of being a DJ. I expect that the
FM Studio room was very wide but when we enter that station its not that kind of big and the whole wall is covered
with acoustic foam to prevent unwanted audio to be heard inside the FM studio. The best part of this tour is when the
tour guide gives more information, trivia and brief history regarding to the place where we are heading. The following
information during the old building tour and some studios that we entered was discuss. The original meaning of the
GMA was Greater Manila Area and it was only started as a Radio station. And as the network expanded it changed
into Global Media Arts. Officially launched on June 14, 1950 and owned by Robert Bob Stewart, American war
correspondent.
Next is the studio 2 where the Flash report/ News TV Live is being shoot. Our tour guide told us a little
information about the advancement of technology prompters are installed together with the cameras for easy reading
of the newscasters used and the studio 2 is a permanent set-up, the light used is said to be eco-friendly because
they are utilizing LED lights. Our tour guide give us time to take some picture in the studio and how we will look on
TV when camera is pointed towards us. We are very happy and we enjoyed the moments that we see ourselves in
the TV. Another studio that we have entered is one of the biggest studio of the network, it has its own control room.
Saksi, Imbestigador, 24 Oras SOP, and other shows are being held in this studio. I was amazed by the set,
equipments and other technologies used inside the studio. And knowing that a small studio can be a bigger one in
Television by using camera tricks.
We have also visited the CMOS (Control Management On-Air Systems). In these part of the tour we are able to
see how engineers manipulate local and international programs and commercial. They explained everything that we
must know about TV Broadcasting, from setting up the stage, high tech controls for lights and many more.
A lot of learning and information that we acknowledged. Its a pleasure to be there and know things in the field of
TV broadcasting. Thank you for conducting a tour like this. Its a big opportunity, never stop exploring.
