Q.3) State whether the following statements are True (T) or False (F)
1) When a dielectric slab is introduced between two plates of a parallel plate capacitor, the
electric field is reduced.
2) Electric Susceptibility relates the Polarization P of the material to the Electric Field Intensity
E causing the Polarization.
3) A material containing polar molecules is in the polarized state even in the absence of an
electric field.
4) Capacitance of a spherical capacitor does not depend upon the charge on the spheres
5) Electric Displacement vector D is connected with the bound (induced) charges only
6) Induced surface charge q in a dielectric is always greaer than the free charge q
7) The SI units of Electric Displacement vector D and Electric Polarization
Vector P are same
8) Dielectric constant is also called as the relative permittivity of the dielectric
2) Two co-axial cylinders are having radii 5 cm and 6 cm respectively. Their lengths are 12 cm.

system. If instead of air, oil having dielectric constant 3 is filled between the cylinders upto the
height of 6 cm, what will be the capacitance of new configuration?
3) An electric field having uniform electric intensity of 6x 104 V/m in a medium of dielectric
constant 2, is incident at an angle of 600 on the surface of another medium of dielectric constant
6. Find the magnitude and direction of electric intensity in the other medium
4) A metal plate is having a charge of 2 coulombs on it. A conductor is charged by repeatedly
making contacts with the metal plate. The metal plate is recharged to 2 coulombs after each
contact of the conductor. After first operation the charge on the conductor is 0.1 coulomb. What
is the ultimate charge on the conductor. (Hint: Voltage of metal plate and conductor is same).
5) Two concentric spheres have radii 5 cm and 3 cm. If the inner sphere is given a charge 12 x
10-9 coulomb, the capacitance of the capacitor is 75 pF. Find the dielectric constant of the
dielectric between the spheres.
6) A cube of side length 0.5 m is centered on the origin and its edges are parallel with the x, y,
