There are five steps in conducting research in order for us to meet our
objectives successfully. First and foremost is identifying your objectives.
You have to know first your purpose why are you going to conduct such kind
of study? What made you decide to come up on that problem? Second is
formulating hypothesis. It is a potential answers to your research
questions; the research process helps you determine if your assumptions are
true. Third is carrying out a research design to address the problem. It
is the overall strategy that you choose to integrate the different components
of the study in a coherent and logical way, thereby, ensuring you will
effectively address the research problem; it constitutes the blueprint for the
collection, measurement, and analysis of data. Fourth is based from the
result, the hypothesis is supported or refuted. In this case you are able
to know if the information that you had gathered was proven or not. Last but
the least is making generalization. You can now get the result from the
study that you had come up. You are now able to identify if the result that
you are expected is positive or negative. With that results, you may now
make a generalization or conclusion to your study.
Thus, following the scientific methods of research plays a vital role in
finding out solutions to a problem, because with this, it can help you avoid in
jumping into conclusion without undergoing further observation and without
gathering information that will serve as evidence to your study and of
course, it enables you to find answers correctly and to achieve a good result
without being biased.
3. How is the problem known to be a research problem?
In conducting research, we have to identify first the problem before we
will find answers or solutions to that problem. To make sure that the problem
that you will going to choose is a researchable problem you have to identify
the following considerations:
a. If significant people perceive that the problem exists. When
significant people distinguishes a problem which they think they need to find
answers or solutions that could help them in their profession, job, daily living,
etc.
b. You have to recognize the difference between of what is ideal and
what is actual. With this, you may able to pinpoint what is theoretical and
what is factual.
