    Pig Roast
    Come and visit us, and expect to
    eat high off the hog. We will be
    roasting a hog over night for the
    festival delicacy. All the sides to
    build a great mountain meal.

    disappeared from the Appalachian
    life. Through the festival we
    preserve the age old arts of
    Sorghum making, Appalachian
    Crafts, canning, time gospel music,
    and food.

    Ministries
    Since the Lakefront Church of God
    purchased the former Middle Fork
    Elementary School, the church has
    had the opportunity to minister and
    serve thousands of Magoffin County
    Residents. The Church operates the
    Water into Wine Food Pantry that
    serves 500-600 families per month
    with food. The church operates an
    emergency resource center; with
    donated hygiene products, clothing,

    Food as an Art

    There will be plenty of opportunities


    to devil into the foods of our
    ancestor during the festival.
    Herman Patrick will keep the
    tradition of Soup Beans on an open
    fire alive, as he cooks his annual
    kettle. Sarah and Robert Patrick will
    keep the Dutch ovens hot with
    various delicacies. This year, the
    menu has expanded to include an
    all new favorite recipe of Chicken
    Valatias, this dish was named after
    Valerie Inzer. Enjoy fried taters,
    meats, canned goods, and other
    dishes that were found on mamass
    tables in the mountains.
