Polarimeter PDF

1. The document describes an experiment to determine the specific rotation of a sugar solution using a polarimeter. A sugar solution of known concentration is prepared and placed in the polarimeter tube. 2. Readings of the analyzer scale are taken at two positions for both water and the sugar solution. The difference in readings gives the rotation produced by the sugar solution. 3. The specific rotation is then calculated using the measured rotation, concentration of the sugar solution, length of the polarimeter tube, and other variables, according to the given formula. The calculated specific rotation is compared to the standard value.
