story,inorder.Theywilldothisforhomework.Thisismuchlikethesequencing
activity,buttheyaredoingitontheirownforhomeworkanddrawinginsteadof
verballyretellingthestoryorwriting.Thisallowstheteachertotrulyseeifthe
studentscomprehendedsequencingandunderstoodtheorderinwhichthey
wouldretellthestory.

principles):
ThisactivitycoverstheTPACKprinciplesforseveralreasons.Thetechnological
aspectisthatstudentsareusingtheSMARTboardandpossiblyIpads.Students
willusethesetosequenceevents.Theywillbeinteractivebygettingupand
movingtocomeuptotheboardandmovetheeventsintotheirplace.Thelesson
demonstratescontentknowledgebecausethestudentsareworkingtowards
retellingthestory,acommoncorecontentstandard.Thesequencinghelpsthem
toorganizeandthenmoreeasilyretellthestory.Lastly,thereisalotof
pedagogicalcontentontheteachersend.Itisimportanttorecognizethatpartof
thelessonrequiresstudentstoworkinpartnersandanotherportioniswhole
groupdiscussion.Additionally,studentsarereceivingdirectinstructionwhilethe
teacherisreadingthestorytothem.Thisprovidesmultiplemediumsforthe
studentstoreceivetheinstruction.Theyarealsoabletohearthestorywhile
visuallylookingatit.ThesamegoesfortheactivityontheSMARTboard.The
studentsheartheteachertalkwhilevolunteersareplacingtheeventsinorder.
Theycanvisuallyseetheeventsandheartheirteachersaythemoutloud,aswell
asthemselvesandtheirpeerswhentheypartneruptoretell.Thesedifferent
mediumsofteachingandincorporatingthetechnologyensuresthatmore
studentsareabletounderstandandgainfromthematerial.
Thetechnologysupplementsthecontentandsupportsthestudentslearningof
thematerial.Itdoesnottakeawayordistractbecausetheactivitywillbe
designedtogorightwiththelessonandenhancetheiroverallunderstandingand
organizationofevents.
