Purpose of the role
The Broadcast Designer will be responsible for the conception and
production of high quality graphic design solutions for broadcast. This will
involve motion graphic design and occasional print design for promotions
and branding.

Accountabilities
The Designer will be responsible for the production of high quality
graphic design material for promotions and branding, both on and
off air.
They must have the ability to effectively communicate design ideas
through storyboards, style frames and mock-ups.
They will be required to work on all aspects required for a design
project, including logo design, production of 2d and 3d motion
graphics, post production work, and assets for print and web.
They must be able to see a project through from start to finish and
ensure all assets required are delivered on-time and to requirements
They must display an understanding of the market and the BBC WW
Channel brand strategy and share a continued involvement in
developing these brands
They must continue to learn new software and develop design skills
required for the job, and be prepared to undertake training where
necessary
They must be prepared to work out of hours where reasonably
required, in line with the responsibility of the job.
The post holder must comply with all relevant BBCW safety rules,
procedures and guidelines and to be aware of responsibilities under
the BBCW safety policy
They must comply with BBCWs policies on diversity and to apply the

principles of the policy when carrying out the role

The designer will be highly competent in interpreting a design brief, and
work closely with the Producers and Senior Broadcast Designer to
understand and define the brief requirements. They will provide expertise,
creative input and effective design solutions within an agreed time-scale
and budget.

A creative thinker, with an excellent and proven ability to visually


and verbally communicate ideas.

Ability to define, characterize, and communicate solution design at a


creative level

Excellent Macintosh skills, proficient in mainstream graphics


software, including but not limited to: Adobe After Effects, Cinema
4D, PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Highly motivated with a strong sense of belief in creative ideas.

Strongly committed to working as part of a creative team

Excellent visual design vocabulary and client facing skills


Excellent verbal, visual and presentation skills
The ability to produce and communicate a consistent stream of
fresh ideas

Experience working within a wide variety of visual styles

Education
Degree in graphic design, fine arts or communication or equivalent
certification or job experience desirable
Professional Experience
Proven experience of creative contribution as part of a design team within
the television or motion graphics industry
The role requires excellent design skills and broad experience in all stages
of the creative design and production process.
Experience with storyboarding, layout, typography, logo design and some
experience and understanding of print and web design issues.
